Does anyone know where to buy or rent baby furniture...cheap? Need a baby crib for a 1 1/2 year old...not the pack and play, the real one. Thanks.

Oh, staying on the west end. Can anyone suggest a really good market for local produce and grocery. Trying to stay away from the commercial places and support the community, and fresh is best!

Thanks!

Bbchin, regarding the crib, the best source may be to ask the person you're renting the villa from. Also, the parents may consider a PeaPod / PeaPod Plus. It's transported nicely (folds up into a little bag) and you can use it not only for the little one to sleep at night but also to take to the beach to keep them out of the sun and away from bugs.

Regarding produce and grocery, the closest supermarket to the West End is going to be Pueblo in Subbase (east of Crown Bay Marina, across from the Bureau Motor Vehicles). There's a produce stand on the side of the road near Frenchtown (on the way to Charlotte Amalie/downtown on the right hand side). With the size of crew you're going to have, if I may suggest making one big trip to Cost-u-Less (which is "in the country" toward the east end of STT) and then picking up things you run out of or miscellaneous things you need from Pueblo or....the Gourmet Gallery (in Crown Bay Marina). And, here's an unsolicited suggestion........take "head of each household" on the big shopping trip to Cost-U-Less and have each family get what they need. Figure out the "common" items (ice, milk, bread, etc.) and have each family drop some $ into an envelope and share the expense of the "common" items. You may also consider utilizing the services of the Grocery Goddess ( http://www.grocerygoddesses.com/ ). I often recommend them to my guests and I've used them a few times myself. They will work with your villa owner/property manager and will provision your villa prior to your arrival. They provide detailed records (all the receipts). They're reliable and very thorough. If they're unable to find the exact item on your list, they will call you while they're shopping and talk thru possible substitutions. I've always been impressed with their customer service.

I found one for the boat at K-mart at a very reasonable price. It is a full size crib with a hanging diaper tray, etc. Folds up nicely and doesn't take up too much room. I don't remember the exact price but remember not going into "sticker" shock when I found it.
