This is just amusing, so I thought I'd share...

My husband and I LOVE the VI (obviously you can tell I'm hooked since I peruse this board on a daily basis). We have been 4 times in the last 2 years (our 2nd anniversary is 10/25). He is my second, and best :-), husband.

Well, I've been talking SO much about how much we (as well as our kids) enjoy the VI that my ex-husband booked a trip to STT with his girlfriend. He has never been to the USVI/BVI. Anyway, they are there RIGHT NOW at Marriott Frenchman's Reef, and he is planning to propose!

I am so jealous! Not because he's getting married, but because he's there right now!! Taking the side trips that I recommended. And I'm here in Missouri (misery). Plus the VI is OUR place. Now it will be THEIR place too. Urgh.

Funny. Please tell me it's raining there....

Toooo Funny!!!

Thanx for making me laugh! Like you - my second (& best) husband discovered USVI this past April & will be returning this coming April.

Your post was wicked funny. Hope your children's new stepmom will be as great as the one that my children got. Ours is awesome!

I wish them well.

But - even more emphatically - HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, to you and your "best mate". (We celebrated our 12th this past July.)

Congrats!!!

Are you from Boston?? I haven't heard anything that was WICKED funny in a while! LOL!

Thanks for the empathy! I'm sure she will be a good stepmom to my kids (aged 7 & 9) -- If they only could get out of bed before 9 am to get my kids to school on time when they stay there! Ah well...when the honeymoon's over maybe getting out of bed will be less of a problem!

Thanks also for the anniversary wishes. Lack of "fundage" or we'd surely be in the VI again celebrating on 10/25. Oh well. We have Bushwacker and Painkiller recipes - - we'll break into the bar and dream!

You are good!!

We are from the "lovely" state of Massachusetts (about 45 miles northwest of Boston).

I am sure that your anniversary will be special - wherever you are!

There was a little rain shower earlier, but right now it is beautiful. Looks like it will be a wonderful sunset! 🙂

I'm scanning to avoid work despite only having one husband! How many of us live in Mass I wonder? It seems that so many of the posts come from us up in wicked-cool Massachusetts (especially in the winter-yuck!). 16 days or so and counting till we get back!!!

MA resident here! We catch the Pats games at Skinny's...oops, I should say hubby etc catch the Pats game at Skinny's every year. The owner is from our area (greater Haverhill area).

Isn't it fun to go to the islands in the winter and watch the Boston weather (usually freezing rain) while you enjoy the trade winds and rum drinks? Makes me giggle! :):):)

Bushwackah, rental cah, carribean lobstah, Painkillah, Haulovah Bay, Woody's Bah & Grill, great weathah!

Me too - from Massachusetts. I am so jealous of those of you who decided to move and stay inthe USVI. Ours was a briefer stint.

Seems like we all can use some humor...

So the update is that my ex and his girlfriend did get engaged...in New York prior to heading to St. Thomas!

Here's the irony. He said St. Thomas itself was "all right". He likes Puerto Rico better overall. He tried to book the New Horizons to BVI, but it wasn't available. I asked if he took the ferry to STJ and ultimately to Trunk Bay and Cinnamon Bay. They did but said the beaches were "OK". Snorkeling wasn't good due to the rains. Again, they liked the snorkeling and beaches better on the N Coast of PR.

Trunk Bay and Cinnamon Bay - - "OK"??? Can you see why we're not married anymore? Obviously someone who thinks St. John is "OK" is on a completely different planet than I!

So the moral of the story, on this the 2nd anniversary of my marriage, is that a successful marriage takes two people who like similar vacations (i.e. we're both beach people - - and think STJ beaches are the best in the World)!!!

Thank you for the update!

I couldn't have written a better ending!

You are sooo right about how different people perceive things & places so differently.

Great news is that it is still "your" special place & not "theirs", as well. (It is okay to sometimes be protective of our special discoveries!)

Guess not everyone sees St. John & its beaches as the "Wicked Cool Place" that we do. (Which isn't a bad thing - since we don't want the place tooo overrun with tourists!) - Listen to me - I have only been there once & now am sounding like a local, defending my turf and not wanting our precious secret to leak out into the universe!

Take care & thanks for sharing!

Sue

Knew you'd find this amusing, Sue! You are wicked insightful and SO correct in pointing out my joy in knowing the VI remains "our" special place. We only want "passionate fans" as recurring visitors...

OK, a lesson for those getting married. Make this a part of your pre-nup: St. John is MINE!
