My wife and I are coming back to St. John in October this year and wondered if anyone could tell me either where I could buy or rent a couple beach chairs for the week. We stayed at a home last year that provided them and they were wonderful to have at the beaches. This time we are staying at the Westin and chairs are unavailable to take outside the resort. Any help on where to buy or rent would be great? Also if you do know what would an expected price be or best guess? Thanks in advance

We rented some very nice beach chairs from Crabby's (in Coral Bay) when we were on STJ in June. Nice chairs and a strap to carry them to the beach. Plus talking to Mr Crabby (owner - don't know is real name) was delightful. I think it was $20/week or something close to that.

When you come into Charlotte Amalie, you can stop at the K Mart to buy chairs.

Whenever we travel we have to have a box fan (go figure), we stopped there from the airport to our condo and got one. yeah!

We've always rented villas that provide chairs so I don't have any first hand experience but there was a post on another forum recently that said you can rent chairs from Crabby's in Coral Bay.

Other options:

Cruz Bay Watersports at the lumberyard rents collapsible camping style chairs

The hardware store by Starfish Market sells (not rents) beach chairs when they are in stock.

What's the cost of renting chairs for the week and buying them at someplace, even leaving them there when you leave???

That's something to think about.
