*We've never been to St. Thomas before... 2 adults with tow teen girls...have narrowed choice to Bolongo Beach vs. Sapphire Beach...want less "commercial"... suggestion?
Also, debating about Sapphire Beach Resort vs. Azure Bay Condo? Any thoughts?

Not sure what you mean by "less commercial". Sapphire Beach Resort is at Sapphire Beach. It's somewhat quite this time of year. Close to Red Hook. Sapphire Village Condominiums are across the marina from Sapphire Beach Resort. Two nice pools and staff is friendly. Repair work being done on one of the buildings but no impact to folks coming or going.

Would you recommend Bolongy Bay Beach over Sapphire Beach? Heard some comments about the locals really being annoying (more so than other islands I've been at) if on a more "tourist-y" beach. Thinking about staying at one or the other. Trying to get a 1 bdrm or 2 bdrm at either place.

I'm still not really following you...both places are resorts with beaches. Neither are really "commercial," they both will have a number of tourist due to their locations. Sapphire is a great beach, I know a lot of locals who go to it, especially on Sunday. I have never been to Bolongo, but I'm sure it's nice too. I think you just need to pick on price and location. There is nothing wrong wih staying at Sapphire, it's beautiful. Good Luck.

Hello Brian,

Bolongo is a quieter resort then Sapphire (Sapphire gets some cruise ship passengers during the day and on Sundays they have a live band - locals attend that.). The beach is nice at both but the water area is better at Sapphire as Bolongo is a bit rocky in the water. Bolongo has a good restaurant and Caribbean show - but you can go to those even if staying at another hotel.

Brian:

I prefer Point Pleasant Resort (just north of Sapphire Beach). The condos are larger than the Sapphire Beach Units and the place is "less" commercialized. It's two beaches are a little more secluded, therefore you don't have many (if any) local residents going there. The two restaurants are good, with Agave being one of the best (IMHO) on the East Side. We stayed there in April for a week and liked it so much we just bought a condo there.

Where ever you go have a great vacation.
