We will be staying in St. Thomas for a week in March and want to spend a day on St. John. There are so many beaches to choose from, I need some opinions from people who have been there. There will be a group of about 10 that likes to swim, snorkel, and play all kinds of sports. Thanks for all your help!

When you went to Francis Bay where did you park?

Up at the campgrounds and walk down or
did you park along the road at the Maho and walk

I am sure there is another parking spot - just never knew where it was.

We had done an article about Lindquist/Lindqvist/Smith Bay Park a couple months ago, here is the link: Smith Bay Park.

TomB - For Francis Bay, you can park by trail and take the trail to the beach, or you can drive down to the beach and park there.

Thanks - I will have to take a look at my STJ trail map
I am not sure I know where the head is.

I have been to the campgrounds
And along the road front at Maho
Even anchored there in the 80s, but I will be damn if I know where the road or trail you are talking about.

Probably like the old expression - If it was a snake it would have bit me by now.

53 days and I will find it!

I recommend Trunk Bay - but go there on a day when the cruise ships are not docked in STT as it will be a LOT less crowded. There's drinks/food at Trunk (chairs can be rented). Go to the right of Trunk for frisbeeing-football. It would be cheaper for you to buy a family pass if 10 of you are going instead of paying per person. Have a great time - it's awesome.
