Were debating on which month would be the best month to come back to St. John. February, March or April.? And why? How will the humidity be at these times? I can take heat but not a lot of humidity...Crowds? Any opinions are greatly appreciated. Thanks so much in advance....Leslie

The average high tempuratures during February - March is around 85-87 degrees. The humidity will depend on a few different factors like what the current weather fronts are and where you are staying on island. A gentle trade wind will make a lot of difference.

If you want to do some trinket shopping, I would avoid downtown and instead go to Mountiantop, usually a nice breeze there. At the beach find a nice shade tree or take a dip in the water to cool off. Most beaches have very nice breezes and are very comfortable in those months. I'm not sure if you are looking into one of the bigger hotels that all offer air conditioning, or a private villa that will either offer ceiling fans an air conditioner or both.

Of the 3 months of travel that you are mentioning, I would think that February would be a little quieter. It is still the high season, but you probably won't have the spring break crowd yet.

Hope this helps.

Molly

Were looking at a villa, and have a couple of villas in mind and neither have A/C but I believe fans. And if I remember right both are by Chocolate Hole. Would that be a bad spot to be? Any breezes in that area? 1 villa I guess is by some construction that isn't finished and the rental company advises construction near by. I would like to be in quiet Coral Bay but husband wants to be close to Westin and town. Why? I have no idea really. lol

I've stayed at the Westin in the condo's on the hill. They do have nice breezes there, I would assume that it would be the same for Chocolate Hole. Check out the Chocolate Hole webcam, they bay is full of sailboats.

We have been going to St Thomas for the last 9 years or so and always during Jan, Feb or March. During our trips in late Jan and early Feb we found the water temperature to be slightly cooler than we preferred. I don't recall the particular weather patterns, but I do remember all the great sunshine. We have found mid March to be just about perfect.

By watching the cruise ship schedules you can plan which spots to avoid on which days. However, if this website is correct there are no cruise ships scheduled for STT in the month of March. On days when there were 3, 4, or 5 cruise ships we would avoid the big hot spots i.e. shopping, Megan's bay and Coki. Those are great days to go to Secret Harbor (I'm not allowed to tell you where it is, it's a secret) or Hull Bay.

I've never been to STT in April.

See you all there March 7th.

Rusty

I'm with Rusty on Mid-March! It is "starting" to warm up a little here and we don't get the cold fronts. The water is that much more bar-able, yet it is still cool in the states. The weather is the best during this time. (tu)

When you have been shoveling snow just to go to work, turning up the thermostat incrementally and still wearing a sweater indoors, haven't seen a sunny day for longer than a week, start to despair about ever seeing sun again,--------- Go to the airport - it is now the best month to visit the VI.

I totally know how you feel. I'm from northern Michigan and there is no shortgage of snow or cold here. I wish I could hop a plane today but not possible although I do day dream about when I can get there again. I'm working on my next winter vacation as I write this.
