Hi all,
We are cruising to St Thomas in December. I would love to bring home some different bottles of alcohol for gifts. I am looking for the best prices near the port. Any suggestions? Thanks 🙂

K-Mart. They even give you a six-pac carrying case for free....

Agree about KMart - and Cost-U-Less...both around the corner from one another. I don't think cost-u-less has packaging, though. Some things might be a little cheaper at one vs. the other - depending on the bottle/brand.

One cloudy day last spring I undertook a mission to find out once and for all which store had the best prices.

I drove myself crazy, because due to sales and specials there is really not a conclusive answer.

Generally speaking K-Mart and Cost-U-Less have the best prices. You can get the carry on box at Cost-U-Less, they cost $1 and are usually near the stack of boxes at the cash register.

However you never know who is having a special sale and occasionally i have found fifths of top shelf brands on sale at local spots for $3 or $4 a bottle.

There are two KMarts on STT, one of which is within walking distance of the Havensight (WICO) cruise ship dock. You'll need to take a taxi to Cost U Less and the other KMart which are much further away. If your ship is docked at the Crown Bay facility then probably the Pueblo Supermarket would be your best bet but that would require a taxi trip. Cheers!

We do all of our buying at AH Riise. Not sure how much more expensive but selection is one of the best I've seen. It's all there in one place.

Question, why would you buy booze for gifts? Most people will be more than happy with cute island paper napkins. Keep the the booze for yourself.

AH Riise prices are $1-$10 more per bottle depending on booze. I concur with K Mart as blest prices close to the dock. C-O-L has good prices as well. Plaza extra has some decent prices too but that is past C-O-L next to the other K-Mart. When it comes to wine though, the Australian wines are cheaper than the California ones

Okay, we're equally as guilty, but doesn't it strike everyone odd that we pay good $$$ for a villa or hotel room, but are looking for the best bargain on booze? I'm sorry, but we all sound silly! And I'm with Promo, bringing back booze for a gift seems odd. Artwork, spices, or napkins are more lasting. Postcards work equally as well! 🙂

We are brining it back as a gift because neither of us are big drinkers. We have a couple people who love their rum and thought it would be a great gift for them 😉

adias angel: The regular (light and dark) Cruzan rums are great but also check out the relatively new flavored Cruzan rums which are absolutely top-notch. Cheers!

Have to agree with STT. If you're bringing back gifts bring back some of those yummy Cruzan Coconut, Pineapple or other flavored rums. Cuzan does a good job with them. Take your choice.

I have to agree with buying at K-Mart and Purchase the Cruzan Rum flavors. We bought one of each and I was so sad when I emptied the last drop from the last bottle in my mouth. Big sigh...

I guess I will just have to go back and buy more. Make sure you pack them up well. I did one box myself and I lost 2 of the bottles in transport. The one they packed up stayed quite nice. Guess I'm just good at drinking it. When you good at something you best stick with it. LOL

Question... they handed out sample bottles of Cruzan Black Cherry at the St. John Parade. It had an interesting flavor, thought it would mix well with Coke but I just sipped it straight. Is this out yet?

I love cruzan, but the flavor i don't like is the raspberry. It tastes like robitusin...anybody else?

My husband LOVES the raspberry with cranberry juice. We have gone thru the 3 bottles we brought back and he has made 2 more trips to 2 different liquor stores to buy out their stock. (He has one drink a night so as to conserve it :)!!).
We even bought some for my mother when we were visiting in Illinois. She mixed it with lemonade. I prefer the orange or vanilla. The orange mixes well with the cranberry juice and the vanilla is great with Godiva choc. liqueur.
