Starting planning a trip for Sept or early October and noticed many things are closed. Is this because of hurricane season? Should we look at different dates?

September is the height of hurricane season and many businesses use that time to renovate, vacation, etc. On the other hand, there will be some places open and the beaches will be empty. If there isn't a storm, the weather can be glorious. If you do come during this time, think about trip insurance.
