We'll be staying on STT, but will make 2-3 trips over to STJ from Nov 7 - Nov 14th.

Husband birthday is the 10th, which is a Saturday.

Any suggestions on something I can do for him? Certainly will go out for dinner, but I'm looking for something to surprise him with that I can set up before we get there.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Connie,
where do you stay, hotel/villa etc. Perhaps if you are in a private villa you could set up a nice message out on the patio overlooking the ocean, or perhaps hiring a personal chef to come in and cook a nice birthday dinner. Just some thoughts.

It's really hard to answer without knowing your husband's hobbies and "likes". But... A pre-paid round of golf at Mahogany Run with an early tee time so he can play and still enjoy a little beach relaxing before going out for a dinner with you might be nice.

Or - see if any of the deep sea fishing charters have room for "one more". I personally LOVE to do the chartered fishing, but wouldn't dare try to book it and take time away from my wife (but if she arranged it and gave it to me as a present, I'd be very grateful).

It's so nice of you to go to this effort for him! He's a lucky guy!

Good Luck! Have Fun!

Greetings,

I will be arriving in STT on Oct 31st to celebrate my birthday which is also on November 10th. As the previous post suggested, I have reserved a Masseuse for mid day pampering at my villa and a private chef to prepare dinner my friends and family.

My anticipation for this vacation can not be explained in words.

Happy Early Birthday to your husband.

Sassy...and happy birthday to you too!

We'll be staying at a small condo near Red Hook.

VI...if he's going fishing, I'm going fishing too. But that's a great idea. We have our own boat in NJ and we fish whenever we get the chance.

Golfing? He won't even watch it.

I have one thought it mind and that would be to rend from Noah's Little Arks. I thought that may be a good idea. I want to do this soon because it's getting close and I like to be organized.

Funny thing.......nephew called me today and he wants me to help him plan a trip to the islands. His main concern is to go to Jost Van Dyke. I told him he has to stay on STT or STJ and then go from there, but it will be fun to plan this with him.

Hi Captain. We were out in May with Captain Kevin from Born to Rhumb with 9 people. We had an excellent time. Great boat, great Captain and mate and great time.

It will only be the 2 of us this time, so I just don't know how to handle that. I don't like the cattle boat thing, but still love the idea of doing that.

Thanks Captain...any suggestions are so welcomed!

Connie,
You said "certainly will go out for dinner". I would go to Romano's 97 smith Bay, when you make the turn to Cokie Beach it's on the right hand side. The owner is from River Edge NJ. Best Restaurant on STT IMOP. This is a gift idea, if he likes the water and fishing etc. Get him a Citizen Eco-Drive (Dive Watch). You can buy it down there for about half what it would cost in the States. I paid $275.00 about 5 years ago, you can't break them, and then Sun keeps them charged, never needs batteries. Just a thought. My son and my dog's birthday are Nov 11th Veterans day. Wish him a Happy Birthday from Lizard and Family!

A day at sea on one of the charter boats will be pricey but well worth it. A sail to Jost and back with a snorkle or two (Lovongo and Congo Cays) or a powertrip (aka stinkboat) to elsewhere ... Since it is Sat., you can do the ferry to Jost but not quite as personal nor romantic as a sail for two - with someone else doing the work!
BTW, not sure why your nephew "has" to stay on STT and STJ. If I had my druthers would spend the whole time on Jost - but it might be a bit boring for him.
Why not some time at the Ritz spa since you're already on East End? Don't know what evenings they do the cocktail sunset sail on the Lady Lyndsey but you could call for information.
I'm sure that you've heard of Romano's and Tony is a wonderful host but realize that it is Italian - make no mistake, very good Italian. But then not everyone doesn't do Italian like me.
Check out http://www.sailingvirginislands.com/services.html for Treazzure. Know some folks who have used him and he does do "dinner cruises" but would probably also combine with a day at sea.

Connie, you've been offered various suggestions, have turned down some but haven't responded to poster's questions relating to, "what does your husband like?" The answer to that question would be of great help!

One could suggest anything from parasaiing to serving him dinner at your Sapphire condo rental along with the many options already proffered. Others include:

Hire a chef to create an awesome on-site gourmet dinner,

Create a nice simple dinner yourself in your Sapphire unit whicih has basic kitchen facilities in situ with candles burning throughout, a little birthday cake and with you ending up ONLY in flip-flops but nonetheless well-scented with a perfume that hubbie has never beforer smelled...

Cheers!

STT....the water, fishing and snorkeling are what he likes. Trying to contact Noah's Little Ark right now. They said that I would have to call them, but I don't want that on our phonebill, so I'm trying to do it via internet.

I'll give him something I can wear that night :o)

He'll love getting on the water and the option of doing some snorkeling seems to fit both us very well.

Nice little lunch to bring along and we're set for the day.

Thanks for everybodies ideas!!

I've already told you my thoughts on the birthday.

Just wanted to say re: the nephew who wants to go to Jost. Just point him in the direction of Ivan's. If I weren't spoiled by nice villas on STJ, I'd be tempted to just camp on the beach for a week... It's an inexpensive way for folks to go. If he wants to see STJ, he can take the ferry over there and do that.

Hey Lulu...

Nephew will be going with girlfriend and I suspect this will be the engagement trip :o)

He's never been any further then Florida and just happened to call me about Jost Van Dyke. He's a landscaper, so hea has to go by April at the latest.

I have plenty of pictures and will tell him what I know about STT and STJ (not that I know everything :o)) and he can make the decision himself. I love Jost....it's gorgeous, but I'm not sure that there's enough to keep him busy. He's also a cop in a tough neighborhood, so it's type A all the way for him. He can't relax.

I'll show him all the websites I have and pass them on and it will be interesting to see what he decides on.

I had a dream I got engaged at the Sand Castle. Might not be a bad idea. I liked it in the dream.
