Am staying at Blue Beard's Beach Club starting 12/29/07. Stayed at the Blue Beard's Castle last year. Anyone ever stayed at the Beach Club and what was your experience? We are definitely renting a car to be able to hang at Coki Beach again.

Do a search, because I know my posts are there and I've stayed at Blue Beards many times and loved it each time.

It's a time share, Units are big and clean, beach is OK, Rest/Bar and Pool OK.Staff is nice and helpful. We stayed there for a week in Nov 2003. We would do it again! You do need a car!

We stayed there 2 years ago (have a timeshare) and are staying there in January. Love it, It has a kichen so you don't have to eat out every meal. The beach is small but good. You do need a car! There are washing/drying machines so you can travel light. It is quiet and safe. We love it.

We stay at the Beach Club every year as we have a timeshare (one of the few floating weeks left). We'll be there on 12/9 this year. It is a great spot, little traffic, quiet beach, great staff, nice rooms and seems to be improving each year. I hope it doesn't grow too much. I really am looking forward to seeing what it is like in Dec as we have never been at that time of year. We always rent a car when we're there as we like to get out and about and that is the best way for us. As for beaches, we really haven't found any that we don't like. Coki was great for snorkeling as the fish are everywhere (thanks to those that feed them dog food and mess with the fish's nature feeding cycle) but there have been issues with crime there and the dope trade is very active (not our thing). We like to hang out at Hull Beach for at least one day each trip as it has given us a chance to meet some of the people that actually live on the islands.

we had a great time at the beach club.when you first drive up you may be a little disappointed,we were, but as soon as you check in and get down to the rooms and the rest of the grounds it starts to get a lot better.the beach is nice and there is actually some nice snorkeling to the right by the rocks.i would highly recommend getting a car as the resort is kind of far from restaurants and etc and the taxi's tend to get a little expensive after a while.if you have any more questions feel free to message me.

I work for the company that owns this particular timeshare and I will tell you this. After staying there a week in January of 06, I'm going back because this place is unforgettable. What are you going there for? To stay in your room all the time or getting out on the beach and doing all the activities (i.e. exploring the island, shopping, swimming etc.)? After staying at this place, you get spoiled and don't want to stay anywhere else because everything else seems so commercialized. This place is awesome and you can come out of your room each day with the beach right in front of you and everthing be very quiet except the sounds of the ocean (and what I've seen......all day at that). I have so many home movies that I brought back from this place, I can't begin to tell you. They treat you like family there.

I've worked for the company (19 years in the administrative department) that owns this timeshare along with Bluebeards Beach Castle, the Elysian and now Wyndhamn Sugar Bay, (which I've not stayed at as of yet,) but staying at Bluebeards Beach Club makes me want to go back again and again. I'm going to try to get back in there 3/1 - 3/8 and I hope I can get a room because that is one of the best vacations I've ever had in my life.

By the way......when you meet people at this place, they are like family. Doesn't matter about anything else there. It's a quiet and peaceful piece of paradise.

I'm sitting here at Bluebeard's Beach Club as I enter this message (it is nice that they have wireless). Each year we see improvements to the grounds and units. This year is no exception. This is our first time in St Thomas in December and it was great to leave the cold and snow back in NH. We're even enjoying the brief showers as they are much better than snow squalls. The view of of all the boats going by the resort while we sit on the deck having our morning coffee if very relaxing.

Camille,
Thanks for your input, but I have stayed at many time shares and this one was the least well maintained of all. I did like it and think the location was fabulous, but I would be mortified if my time share at Ft Myers Beach had some of the maintenance issues that Blue Beard's (both the Castle and the Beach Club) have. There is a large building right next to the restaurant that is adjacent to reception that has a rotting roof with holes in it. It is not blocked off to guests, which makes me wonder why they would want the liability of anyone wandering around with roof joists that are falling off. The staff did very little to encourage group outings or activities that would bring people together at the bar and restaurants. There were usually only 3-4 people in the bar area at any given time and they were mostly staff. Yes, it is quiet, but almost boringly so. The most exciting thing was a knife fight. One of the staff had an argument with his girlfriend at the bar and they got into a heated domestic argument where he was swinging a knife at her. It took the staff that were around quite some time to decide that it might be a good idea to security. I can't imagine any guests were very impressed by that whole scene. The security gate that we passed through every time had someone at it twice in the 14 or so times that we passed by, at various times of the day and night.
It is clear that they have made and are continuing to make improvements to the property and I would definitely stay here again, just for the convenience of walking on the beach, but please give a critical eye when you visit next, particularly if you have any contact with Wyndam and the mgt of the place. Some tweaking is definitely needed. Janet

I own a time share and want to sell. Have gone many times and love it, but circumstances have changed, it is harder for me to get around a beach setting - broke my ankle, plate and screws, use a cane. Beautiful setting, low key, best pool party! Email me if interested.

What is the story with Equivest of St Thomas and Chapter 11 (they own Bluebeard's Castle, Beach Club and the Elysian?

Equivest bought the 3 from Kosmos Group International, that bought it from John Cavanaugh (sp?), the originator of the timeshare biz on STT. Equivest then sold out to Cendant Corp., which also owned RCI. Now that Wyndham has bought out Cendant, the actual owner of the three hotels is Wyndham ( http://www.cendant.com/). Equivest's financials have absolutely nothing to do with the resorts.

Marty, your history is correct, however the name "Equivest" continued even with Wyndham involvement.

Equivest St. Thomas, Inc., (ESTI) until recently, owned the timeshare interests at Bluebeard's Castle, Bluebeard's Beach Club and the Elysian. The owners at the Castle filed a lawsuit against ESTI. As a result of the lawsuit ESTI filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy. There was a negotiated settlement between the parties at the Castle, and ESTI is no longer has any interest in Bluebeard's Castle, in effect leaving it an independent property. There are no longer any ties between Bluebeard's Castle and the other two resorts, which remain ESTI properties.

This past week a notice was sent to timeshare owners at all three properties from the District Court of the VI, informing of the bankruptcy and providing a deadline for filing any claims against ESTI. This notification was a legal requirement. However, it should have no impact on any owners unless, for some reason, they have a claim against ESTI. I can't imagine that any at Bluebeard's Beach Club or the Elysian did. The notice also said to take no action if you do not assert a claim.

VI Bound, I assume you received this notice which triggered your inquiry.

Sheesh, get outta the timeshare biz and look what happens! Haha!

Ever since the split in management at the Castle, it's been nothing but a nightmare up there...glad to be selling medical equipment now! Haha!
