Hi Hotrod270!

I'll be at Bluebeard's Beach Club in 4 weeks, spending August 8-22 there. Although I haven't been since last August, I have every reason to believe that it's in as fine shape as it usually is. Is there a reference for you to ask about the shape? Is there some reason for there to be concern?

Hotrod, are you a timeshare owner at Bluebeards Beach Club? If so, I strongly urge you to join the Yahoo group for Beach Club owners. I will PM you with the information.

Well, then, since you won't be going until January, I'll gladly send you a report when I return.

What about Bluebeards Castle? We are staying there at my friends timeshare?

I stayed at Bluebeard's Castle in Feb, 2009 in my Dad's timeshare swap.

Rooms were clean and bug free. Decor was nothing to write home about but serviceable if you aren't persnickety. Kitchenette comes with basic cookware, plates, glasses, utensils, microwave, fridge, stove top but no oven. (perhaps other units had an oven.) View was good (building 3), some buildings would have a spectacular view over the harbor. Quiet and rather isolated up a steep hill. You could walk to town if you are in good shape. They seemed to be in the process of getting rid of the concierge while I was there so I'm not sure if its still there (the desk was there when I arrived and not when I left) offering transport to the Beach Club and Meagan's. Easy to access location if you have a rental car with free parking.

My only complaint is the put a single woman traveling alone in a ground floor room and I wasn't able to swap it. However it seemed a safe area with only guests and staff passing through. No teeth sucking from the staff :).

I stayed at Bluebeard's beach club two years ago in December/January, renting someone's time share week. To stay for a rental, it was fine. Rooms were sufficient and the beach was right there. If I was an owner, I don't think I'd be so impressed as some of the main buildings were in disrepair, tennis court was not useable, etc. I usually stay at BlueBeard's near Charlotte Amalie and it's similar there...awnings torn, hot tub being repaired, fountains not working, etc. which is not a problem for me, but was not close to the quality that I had experienced in other time share exchanges. The Bluebeard's near CA is great for being walking distance to town, as long as you can manage the very steep hill on the way back, but is nowhere close to the beach. I would recommend renting a car no matter where you stay as it is just as cheap as taxis if you are traveling with 2-3 other people and it's easy to get around on the island.
