Will be there over Easter. Just wondering in islanders opinions if Bolongo Bay is a nice/safe Hotel. First timers to the Islands and just took a shot in the dark. Thanks........

Bolongo Bay is a fine place to stay. There aren't very many frills, but it's family run and the staff is very friendly. The rooms have a little fridge and coffee maker and big bathrooms. There's a beach and a pool and watersports. There are also two restaurants on the property. Iggie's, which is down the beach a little, is pretty popular with tourists and locals and can be a good source for nightly entertainment. You'll also be not too far from Red Hook or from town.

Thanks for your reply. The no frills is fine with me as long as the drinks are flowing and the food and service is good.

Trust me...the drinks do flow! Iggie's is a really fun place - during the day and especially at night. Be sure to be there the night that Sammy Watts is there entertaining.
The rooms are OK - not elegant - but who spends tons of time in their room anyway? The staff is helpful, the watersports are fun, the food is MORE than great at both restaurants. You'll have a blast - and Easter will be a perfect time to be there!
Make sure that you take a snorkeling daysail on the resort's catamaran. It's wonderful!

Sammy plays one night at the Beach House (the fancier restaruant) and Wed nights for Carnival Night.

Mondays Jason is on the guitar. Tuesdays not much goes on because everyone is eating CRAB, as Tue is Crab Night. Wed is Carnival Night, Thurs in karoke and...erm....I forget what goes on on Fridays. Sunday they do the beach BBQ and they have rotating entertainment.

I have to second the trip on Heavenly Days - the catamaran. bloody marys for breakfast...or champagne....rum punch in a 5 gallon jug :). I gotta get back on that boat SOON! They also do sunset sails twice a week as well.

If you are doing the all inclusive plan, I THINK you get a reduced price for the day sail or a free sunset - they change those numbers often....but it's easy enough to book.

Just so you know before hand - there isn't any grocery or store other then the gift shop within walking distance - BUT they have an Avis rental desk there at the hotel. Trust me, it's not all that bad driving on the left 😉

Have fun!

Thanks to all for your comments. And the heads up about the grocery stores. Glad to hear it's a nice quaint place. Just what we were looking for.

Brenda, We were just at the condos next to Bolongo and stayed at Bolongo our 1st trip to STT 12 years ago! The rooms are dated but the beach and resort are never crowded we went to Iggies several times, be sure to go for their all you can eat crab, fresh and yummy, make a reservation and go early. Theres a small restaurant at the condos called Mims, just open for dinner, which we liked better than The Beach House at Bolongo. Very short walk down the beach. Don't use the restroom by the poolside bar and restaurant! Let me know when you get back! You are going to love the islands, eventually I will do a trip report, I'm still on island time! haha
