Only four more sleeps till we leave on vacation!! My DH saw a trip online that was a snorkeling trip to Buck Island. I had not seen much about it on the boards. Worth it or not?

Lizardlover - if you are staying on the island of st. croix then it's a definite yes.

If you are staying on st.john or st. thomas it might be diffucult to accomplish the buck lisland trip in just one day

IMO the snorkeling is just average - but turtle beach and the water there are on the top of my list of beautiful places

I hope it works out for you to get there -- have a ball on vacation

There's a Buck Island south of STT also. http://www.fws.gov/southeast/BuckIsland/

We are staying in St Thomas and St John. It must be the Buck Island south of STT as it is a 3 hour cruise and claims that this area has great snorkeling.

3 hours is not much time to enjoy snorkeling Buck Island, if you are a good snorkeler. Some of the snorkel tours I have seen there have let an awful lot of people into the water at one time -- if you are with such a large group you may find the water a little crowded. The best stuff is close to the rocks on either side of the two more popular bays, but if you are an indifferent snorkeler you'll want to stay well away from the rocks . . .

If, on the other hand, you are an intermediate snorkeler or good snorkeler and can go with a smaller group, this would be a fabulous trip!
