Budget rental SUV "Intermediate" vs "Standard" (Wrangler 4dr)

Can someone give advice about whether to choose a rental (from Budget) listed as:

intermediate SUV
FORD ESCAPE 4DR/5PSGR or similar

OR

standard SUV
JEEP WRANGLER 4DRS or similar

We will be on STJ, typically transporting 4 people to and from various beaches, but on arrival and departure we'll be transporting all our bags.

Any would suit but my only caution is the Jeep Wrangler. Visitors in general have this "thing" about Jeeps but, frankly, they're the most uncomfortable ride. The Escape is a VERY comfortable smooth ride. As far as luggage is concerned, if you're hauling more than one carryon each you're way overpacking!
