We're traveling to St. Thomas with an infant and we want to stock up on bottled water to make her forumla so we don't have to spend $5 per bottle at the Ritz. But we don't want to drag it with us ont he plane either! Is there a grocery store/supermarket on the way from the airport to the Ritz Carlton? And if so, are St. Thomas taxi drivers amenable to making such a stop?

hey Jenny

Ask your taxi to stop at the Pueblo on the way to the Ritz. It's just a block off the main road on the way!

I didn't care for the taste of the local water so I probably bought six gallons during our 6 day stay. I always bring a couple of sports size bottles of water when I travel, then refill them from the gallon bottles.

Safe trip and I know you'll have a wonderful time!

Marie

I thought the water in St John & St Thomas was very good, I was really surprised.

The water in the USVI is mostly CISTERN water. Since it is usually properly handled it is safe to drink and because it is "rainwater" it usually has no mineral taste (expect some chlorine taste). If Msmarie doesn't like the taste, it might be because she is used to a "bottled water" taste. Most bottled water is processed or chlorinated somehow. Everyone seems to have their own definition of taste in water.

There are many sources of bottled water in all of the food stores on all of the islands.

hey stxer!

Yeah, I pretty picky about h2o.

I found the tap water in STT varied in taste; some was very chlorinated while others just had a bit of an odd taste.

The best *city* water, imho is in Seattle, which is the only tap water I truly like so far. I'm a native western, lived in the midwest, northeast and now the southeast. Been blessed to have traveled a bit in the UK, Europe and Turkey. I'm easy to reconize, the young 50 something, dark haired woman carring atleast one bottle of water.

I also drink quite a bit of water. However, I did consum my fair share of rum in STT! LOL
