I'm not sure what sort of great accomodations you have in mind. These are great in their way. These are definitely not luxurious villas. They're simple, West Indian-style cottages, whcih is what we enjoy.

Villa Ventosa is fabulous if you don't mind quite a challenging road - go to www.windspree.com to view

Also Calabash Cottages. Owner on island. We stayed at Sago Cottage - perfect for 2. Google Calabash Cottages.

We stayed in Sunrise:

The villa itself is pretty average for St. John and is very reasonably priced. The view is spectacular! The pics on the website don't do it justice, so I am attempting to post my photos of the view. The road to get up there is challenging, but worth it!

Check out coralbayvacations.com (maybe without an "s", can't remember) look at Astral Ridge. It is out of this world. Talk about amazing. My husband and I have been going there for the past 2 years and it's incredible. Susan the owner has gone above and beyond to make it a slice of heaven. Pool, hot tub, blenders, coffee maker, top of the line linens, towels, etc. Very private (never had tan lines on the trip), romantic, secluded, can't say enough great things about the place. You will fall in love with the villa. It's up on Calabash Boom, about a mile up the mountain, once you crest the mountain you take a quick right and it's right there. The villa is top notch and perfect for a couple. Let me know if you want further info and I'll be happy to pass it along. Unfortunately this year we are unable to rent because of family matters on their end, we had hoped to celebrate our third anniversary at Astral but maybe our fourth! We miss it daily.

Jill,

You are right, that is a fantastic villa for two. Not sure how we missed it. We have already booked for this Nov, but maybe next year! Not sure exactly where it is located. Is it off Salt Pond road?

I'd like to put in a second vote for Astral Ridge. It's a really wonderful place, as Jill has told you. AMAZING VALUE.

UF Prof: You take a right at the community center (after Shipwreck, and just before Johnson Bay Estates) up onto Calabash Boom. Zig and zag up the hill a piece, less than 1/2 way up, at one of the corners, you go right (the Boom road goes left), pop over a little ridge, and the villa is just a short way down that road. VERY steep driveway though, 4WD a must IMO.

If you are familiar with the area you go past Shipwreck Landing, it will be on your right, just after the very small cemetary there's a right hand dirt road (the sign used to be on the tree that said Calabash Boom but someone stole it), you go past the community center and wind up the steep dirt mountain road, once you crest the top of the mountain it's a quick right hand turn and the driveway is right there. You DEFINATELY need a 4x4 to get there as the driveway is literally a rocket launching pad to get out. My first trip up there I thought what have we gotten ourselves into but once you get to the villa it's like no cares in the world. After the first trip up and down the road became second nature like riding a bike. You absolutely must check it out. It's amazing. It books rather quickly, like a year in advance so try and plan ahead. Jill
