This is the last question I hope to have. Has anyone stayed at Calabash Cottages on Coral Bay and what has your experience been? Thanks

We stayed at Sago Cottage 4 years ago. We really like it. Beautiful location, wonderful outdoor shower and hot tub with great view.

The Bierleys (sp)were good to work with - owners who live on-island.

Down side - no A/C and no TV, at least not 4 years ago. Might be different now.

All in all, a good choice for the $$$$.

We stayed at Windwardside, the main house two years ago and we loved it. No A/C but plenty of fans. We loved it. The views were good. It's private. They have a outside shower and an inside. Plenty of towels (bath and beach). The only down side was the first day up the dirt road. But after one day, you just take your time and all was good. We used to cheer when we got to the bottom of the road. You need 4WD to get to the house. The owners live on the island and are very nice.

Close to all the restaurants and markets. Good choice if you stay at Windwardside. Have not stayed at Sago. They also have a small cottage on the same property and we never saw or heard the other renters the whole time we were there.

Any other questions ask away.

Grace

We stayed at Sago last December. Loved it. Susan is very nice and accommodating. Enjoy the trip up- and stay to the left.

I'm adding to what my husband just posted, (mickB). The views of the Sago are even better than the pictures on their website. You could just spend all day relaxing on the porch. It was quiet and very private. The cottage still doesn't have a/c, but we didn't even need it, cos' the tradewinds were very refreshing. It has a small TV for dvd's. We rented some from coral bay. We were there 2 weeks and even that was too short. The cottage and the hot tub were clean , so no worries there. Susan had a good variety of snorkle equipment, which meant, no lugging stuff down with us. You'll love it!!!!!

Mick & angelika...what is your recommendation for markets/groceries? Did you grill out much at Sago?

We got most of our stuff at Lillies Gourmet- Next to Aqua Bistro. If your going through Cruz Bay (sometimes we just grab the car rental and shoot through), I think most stuff is alittle cheaper at Starfish Grocery. Yes we did some grilling- a nice Weber if I remember right. That particular trip we ate out most days and, to save alittle $, lunches in the area are cheaper.

There's a little posse of cats there. Past posts here have them named by past occupants. If you aren't a cat lover, well, they keep other critters away. So we learned to like them (this is NOT to answer the "grilling" question, just some info........).
