Hi.

I've decided to take a last minute trip to camp at Cinnamon Bay this coming Saturday (Feb 5th) for 5 nights or so. I'm traveling and camping solo. I wonder, is this scene conducive for meeting like minded, easy going, laid back types? Are there other solo campers? I am renting one of their tents, as the bare sites are all booked up. Any advice for a single women (35) traveling and camping independently, but wanting to socialize a bit? Also, are there any bars around to get a drink? Does the little general store sell libations? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I can't wait to escape the cold....

Hello Violet,

You will meet other people (single, couples, families, visitors, locals...) You can head to Cruz Bay and check out Woodys, Duffys, Beach Bar for a drink, happy hour, food, maybe music.

Have a great time!!

Violet, we'll keep an eye out for you. I am camping in a rented tent with 3 buddies. I don't know if the idea of a single woman socializing with four guys is intimidating to you, but I can assure you we are all harmless. We are all 42-year-old family men, each happily married with multiple kids. We're running away for a "boys weekend" at Cinnamon Bay. We all grew up together in a small town in Missouri and continue to keep in touch.

We arrive the day after you (on Superbowl Sunday) and are staying until Weds evening.

I can't answer your other questions, because this is my first trip to St. John. I understand the campground has its own restaurant and bar, but the hours are very limited (as is the selection, I'm told.)

JP STL: Gosh, thanks. I'll look for your group. I'm hoping to watch the game *somewhere* on Sunday. I'm coming from Milwaukee and can't wait to get out of the cold. My soul needs the sunshine. And, no, hanging out with four happily married men sounds delightful, not intimidating. I look forward to meeting you all. Thanks for your nice message.

Violet...I'm close to Milwaukee...& we are checking out Cinnamon Bay camping for our next trip! So, I'll want a trip report when you get back!! (Especially the bug bites you will get camping out!) We know that beach, & said that we would love to camp out there next time.
We stayed at Sapphire Beach on St. Thomas in Dec.'04 & we can't wait to go back. We have already told are children that they need to work to pay their own college fees, cuz wanna go back to St. Thomas!! So for now we are just saving up all the pennies to make the trip this fall/winter.

Enjoy!! And at least you won't have to cheer the for Packers for the Super Bowl game!!

Yes the General Store does sell beer and rum, but it's a little pricey. Cinnamon is 4.5 miles from Cruz Bay. I'll be there on the 8th!
Have a great time!
