I am planning on camping on St. John with my family early July. Can someone please provide more info on camping on St. John as Cinnamon Bay?

Specifically how are the cabins vs. the tents?
Will it be too hot to sleep or should I expect a sea breeze?
Would Mojo built into the hill be better for breezes?

We have always enjoyed camping in the summer but have never camped on an island.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Maho is better for the breezes but Cinnamon has a beach right there. Also depends on time of year as the winds shift in direction.

There are several trip reports in the archives for both sites if you have the time and patience to search.

We just got back from our second trip to MAho and would recommend it over Cinnamon any day. Cinnamon is flat, Maho is in the trees and on the hillside. There were people at MAho who had left Cinnamon after one night as they were visited by rats in the tent! Not sure if this happens often but....who wants to find out? Maho does have a beach and there is wonderful snorkeling right there at Maho and Francis BAy. Food is good too, and the staff is happy and helpful. Have fun! It will be hot then too and MAho provides fans in the tents.

I would bet that the creatures were mongoose and not rats.
