I am looking at a few flights involving a transfer in San Juan to STT via Cape Air. The price is good but I don't know if it is worth the savings.

We flew Cape Air several years ago with no problems, back when the San Juan airport was all torn up during construction.

This trip we will be travelling with our toddler so things that were not a big deal in the past are more of a hassle now. (This will be our 4th "airplane" trip so we do have some kid-travel experience)

Can anyone offer any recent experience with Cape Air out of San Juan?

We flew Cape Air out of San Juan with our daughter when she was 3.5. We were on one of the afternoon flights and found it perfectly fine. My husband sat next to the pilot and we sat toward the back, but since it was only an eight seat plane, we weren't far away. The trip only took about 20 minutes and provided great views. Most of the flight was over Puerto Rico and very little was truly "open" water.

Be aware they do ask your weight and the weight of your baggage so they can "balance" the plane. I had to try to guess the weight of our stroller and hope I was right.
