Has anyone recently went on the IKE with Capt Pat?

When i talked to him on the Phone he said the reef he takes people to are healthy "ALIVE" Reefs

Im so tired of going on snorkling trips and the reef is dead

Pat is a very 'straight up' kind of guy. If he says they are alive and well, you can take it to the bank.

Captain Pat of Ike Witt is great!!! We went out with him for our first day sail this past April. He is a Wisconsin native, like us, but has lived in STT for years now. Full of stories and a great sense of humor. He will take you to alive reefs and call out "his fish friends" for you. We sailed out to STJ in Hawksnest Bay and snorkeled over by "Stacey's Beach" ,he'll tell you the story, and Gibney beach. He even ordered up a dolphin the day we went. No matter where we snorkeled you could find Coral that was bleached, from the global warming. There was actually more than I expected. If you want to read my trip report about out day with Captain Pat follow the link below.

Did you choose to not go back with pat or is that what you have to do?

We chose not to go back with Captain Pat because we made dinner reservations at the Caneel Bay Resort. Normally Captain Pat will take you for two snorkel stops and then back to STT. We asked him to drop us off in front of Caneel. He actually took us in his dingy with our bag to the dock at the Caneel Resort and then back to the sailboat. We jumped out of the sailboat at Scott Beach instead and we snorkeled around to the Caneel Beach. We had asked him to drop us off there and we snorkeled all the way in to the beach. Not as much color on that snorkel as in Hawksnest Bay, but I ended up swimming part of the way because my eyes started to burn from salt water. We took a cab from Caneel to the ferry dock and then took the passenger ferry boat back to STT that evening. The parking at American Yacht Harbor was walking distance from the ferry boat drop off.
If you want to see color ask Captain Pat if he will take you to Little St. James. We went there with Captain Phil of the Wayward Sailor out of STJ but I'm sure Captain Pat would take you there too.

Yes we went to The Baths with Stormy Petrel/Pirates Penny. The Baths are very unique and well worth the trip. The snorkeling at The Baths is not good but the snorkel stop after lunch at "The Indians" was great. You can go by ferry but then you would be on your own. The trip with Pirates Penny took us off the main path and the captain told us the scientific stuff and some of the tales that go with the place. I described the trip in more detail in that same trip report from my link above. The post is dated 4/18/06 at 6:30pm Here is the link for Stormy Petrel/Pirates Penny.
