I will be visiting St Thomas in 3 weeks 🙂 and staying at Bluebeard's Castle, which looks like it's less than a mile walk to either Havensight or CA. I will only have 5 FULL days (sun-sat) and was wondering if I'd be better off renting a car or just hoofing it and using taxi's. I plan on taking one day to visit St John, and one for the Baths, would like to see a few beaches for sunbathing/snorkeling and hopefully find some nightlife out there as well. Since cocktails will be mandatory, I think I'd be better off taking taxi's home after an evening out..... thus the dilemma. To rent a car or not ?

Any advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated 🙂

Char:

Rent a car.

Walking will be difficult, since you'll be going up (and down) steep hills. Walking a mile might not seem difficult, but try walking it up hill.

Taxis are expensive. Just two round trips a day (for 2 people) will cost more than a rental car.

Renting a car allows you to explore the island on your own, at your own pace.
