Just a general inquiry about Carnival happenings...

Booked villa Sat-Sat, April 24- May 1. Am I correct in thinking that the parades will be the
weekend of May 1st? Wondering if we should extend our stay until Monday...hmm*-)

Thank you for the heads up in my previous post about securing a vehicle asap and I
guess that goes for securing a place for Sat & Sun night.

Thanks in advance & enjoy your weekend 🙂

Kathy

Hello Kathy,

A little late with the response but recently got some of the St. Thomas Carnival 2010 schedule, here it is:

May 1st, 2010: Adults Parade
April 30, 2010: Children's Parade
April 29th, 2010: J'ouvert
April 28th, 2010: Food/Cultural Fair

The village will likely open the same week as the above events, perhaps Sunday or Monday. And there should be a calypso show or two also within that big finale week of Carnival events.

Did you end up changing your return date to Monday?

Hi there Islander 🙂

Hey better late than never is a motto I stand behind!

Thanks for the update! Unfortunately we leave on saturday, May 1st 🙁
I think we will still really enjoy the festivities though minus the adult parade.

I bet the airport will be even x-tra busy that weekend*-) Going to reserve our vehicle this weekend too cuz it'sjust 6 months away!!(tu)

Looking soooo forward to our return to paradise 😎

Enjoy your weekend and a big thank-you for all you do!

I see the Christmas cards are ready...yay!

Hello Kathy,

You are on island for most of the bigger Carnival events, so no worries you will definitely get to enjoy the festivities. The Food/Cultural Fair is great, it offers a wonderful opportunity to sample local foods, deserts and drinks as well as pick up locally made arts and crafts. Often there is live music and entertainment - steel pan, quelbe dancers. Overall a great cultural event.

Also you can catch the children's parade on Friday, its usually little kids up to teens and includes a lot of the same elements as the adults parade... masqueraders, troops, bands/music, mocko jumbies.

For sure reserve your vehicle in advance, its often tough to find a car rental Carnival week if you wait until the last minute to try and get one.
