candace,

i would have to agree with capnvinny.... try sonya's. in my opinion, they are the best on island by far. they have tons of designs and are willing to take your money... i mean help you find what you're looking for. 🙂 they are very helpful and their products are high quality (in my opinion... but i'm no jeweler). let us know if you have any other questions.

i 'm sorry, I probably phrased that wrong, I was in St. Croix earlier this month, and bought myself two new bracelets and my husband also got one for himself. So I have probably looked in every available shop that was open at the time. I have business cards from most of the shops with phone numbers and some with e-mails. I didn't mean to imply I'm selling them, I've also purchased 1or 2 online last year as Christmas and birthday gifts with no problems. Let me know if I can help.

diotto capnvinny & g-stone: Go with the original, Sonya's, on St. Croix. Great people and quality. Everyone else is just....not the original. Good luck and enjoy being a "hooker"
[;-)) !

Here's another vote for Sonya's! I bought my hook bracelet on my second visit to STX in 1996. Enjoy!

We priced all the different bracelets on the island from Sonya's hook, to the Cruzan Knot, to the one at IB design, and the one at the Gold Shop... and decided I wanted the original, from Sonya's. The Caribbean Bracelet company copies these, but the price we were quoted was higher than Sonya's! Go for the original!

The only thing I would add is that if you are interested in a solid gold hook bracelet (rather than the sterling with gold wire) The Natural Jewel on King Street in Christiansted had the best prices by far. I personally prefer the look of the sterling hook with gold and have two (traditional and hurricane Lenny) made by Sonya and three, including two custom pieces, made by one of her former apprentices who happened to relocate to my area of upstate NY (lucky me!). I never take them off.

Sonya's in St. Croix is the best. I bought the shackle bracelet in 1998 and love it. Silver with gold wire. I've had friends who wanted one and ordered by mail and were very pleased.

I am also interested in buying caribbean hook bracelets. I only saw a couple on STT a few days ago. I would like to know what a "good price" is for these, in both sterling w/ gold wire wrap & solid white gold. I am planning on buying a couple for gifts. Thank you for the help. Sonya's is the best place to look??

My husband and I bought great bracelets at Palm Jewelers in St. John. They have a great selection and are super people. It is located in Cruz Bay.

I bought my bracelet at this store when I was in St john. They run about 130$ but the quality is much better than any other that I have seen.
