We are coming in June (just 3 weeks from now) and want to go over to see the Baths from STT. Does anyone have any experience with the charter company called Limnos? Does anyone suggest any other company. It is me, my husband and 10 year old son. Thanks in advance to all!!

Limnos is great for a family, lots os space, food on board, freshwater showers... but I would go with New Horizons II...more personalized, 18 passengers vs. something like 25-50, great service...wonderful trip! www.newhorizonscharters.com. I've taken many of my friends and family on NHII...always a perfect trip and highlight of their vacation....

After looking at New Horizons II and again at Limnos I have to agree with you, the NH II is much nicer and would be a smaller group. Thanks for the info.

Remember...you need a passport for the BVI's.

Pooh - although some charterboat operations are preparing in advance for the inevitable by noting that passports are required for travel to the BVI, it isn't yet the law. Photo ID and raised seal birth certificate are all that's needed right now for entry by boat, passport by air. No indication that anybody with what's legally required has been refused. Cheers!

although new horizons II is a smaller boat, with less guests per trip, the ride to and from the bvi is much rougher than aboard limnos. limnos is a 53 foot power catamaran and offers a very smooth, very comfortable ride with the ability to move around the boat, and easily pour a drink, or use the head. for the adventurous, younger set, the nh II would be a thrilling trip, while for the family with younger children, or elderly members, limnos would be far more comfortable.

Well the water is flat now and New Horizons rocks. You can also try their Breakaway: http://visitbreakaway.com/.

Both Pirates Penny and Stormy Petrel are well run and comfortable boats that have been doing the BVI trip for a long time and generally cater to more of a family trade - professional and attentive crew - different itinerary than the party oriented trips but do include the Baths. 340-775-7990 in Red Hook - Al Day is the owner/operator for years.
All the boats mentioned do great trips - just a different take for you and info.

No passport to BVI's? We needed them to go to Jost. That were downright in your face about it.

Ask your charter boat company about the current protocol - BVI Immigration can also answer any questions during business hours at [284]- 494 - 3471 extensions 2536 or 2538 -- you can use [email protected] -- also [284] - 468-3701 -- the NY office of BVI tourism at 212-696-0400 has always been very helpful. Entry by sea has different regulations than by air.

Or just breakdown and get a passport. It's much easier that way.

stthomasblog: As yet a passport for entry by boat from the USVI to the BVI isn't mandated although that will probably soon change. The requirements now are for passport OR raised seal birth certificate along with government-issued photo ID. Some of the charter boat companies are jumping the gun in preparation and one can't blame them for that - but the current rules are the current rules and once that changes plenty of advance notice will be given. Cheers!

Just did Limnos Charters last week. It's a full day (8am to 4:30pm) trip including breakfast, lunch, all-day open-bar, transportation to and from the baths, entry fees, the boat ride (of course), and visits to both the Baths and teh caves at Norman Island (highly recommended). The staff were fantastic, friendly and knowledgeable and we had a wonderful time. Given that I live here and do charter-boat work for a living, it's quite a thing for me to be so impressed. I really recommend these guys. Limnoscharters.com. Have fun!

Highly recommend applying for the passport card. Awesome alternative for "non-air" travel across the borders of Caribbean, Mexico and Canada. No more stamping my passport and having to pay for additional pages (never mind the inconvenience of sending your passport away to get them) and the card is good for ten (10) years, like your passport. GREAT!!
