Hello
My wife and I will be moving to St. Thomas for the winter and I will be looking for the opportunity to work in the day sailing business. I hold a 100 ton near coastal license. I have a great resume, over 10,000 off shore miles and ten years experience ( and over 22,000 guest ) running our own bed and breakfast in the San Juan Islands of Washington State. My wife and I are responsible, clean cut, drug free ( starting to sound boring, I know). We will be on St. Thomas from mid October to April ( dates flexible). We will be looking for housing as well.
Please contact us at [email protected]
Thank You
Bill & Chris Carli

Greetings. Do you have a STCW Endorsement?

You can increase your odds by also having the following STCW training to go to the BVI's on a SOLAS vessel:

Crowd Control
Crisis Management & Human Behavior

But, as far as finding employment, I have found that most places wanna meet you in person (i.e. you are on island) before seriously discussing employment...SO many people plan on coming and never do....making the employers wary of anyone not on island...

I agree with the other posts, you need to have the STCW endorsement and the crowd control, etc. We might be interesed in speaking to you pending that issue. The CG has also increased their enforcement of the FCC radio operators license as well. Just a heads up for you. Please check out our company, listed on VINOW: www.SandspurCharters.com

Great luck to you.

Thank you for the feedback. I know about people wishing to move to a place and the effort that it takes ( We live on San Juan Island in Washington state and have lived here for 23 years), and I meet a lot of people who want to move here and never do.. yet we made the move then and I feel we will make this move as well. We are committing to six months on St. Thomas/St. John and then we will sit back and see. We plan on being in the Red Hook area by November 1 with resume in hand. I do have a STCW certificate.
