Hi All:

We're getting married on Cinnamon Bay beach in May. We're planning a small (14 person) morning ceremony and plan on changing after the ceremony so we can all enjoy the beach for the day before celebrating with a dinner/ reception later that night. We are so excited for a nice relaxed day but I cannot seem to figure out the lunch situation. I see there is a restaurant there on the beach -- does anyone have any feedback on the food and service? We aren't looking for anything fancy but also don't want to lose too much time from the beach and snorkeling because we'll be leaving the beach midday to get cleaned up for the reception. We were also thinking of bringing lunch -- does anyone know if there are picnic tables for non-campers just using the beach and if there are bbq pits/ grills? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated -- if you can't tell the whole lunch thing has me a bit stumped. :0)

Thanks and hope all are well!

Leianne

We have eaten there and the food was pretty good.
The service was very slow (island time on steroids)
But maybe if you have it all prearranged at certain time no worries
Nice to get out to the sun for a little bit also.
Not sure if you can rent a part of the pavilion and bring in a private cater I sure somebody will know.

Oh yeah Congrats!

Have you thought aboout renting one of the Cinnamon Bay cottages? That would give you cooking facilities (I think they have a grill and propane stove), a picnic table and space for changing and storing clothes. I don't think they do day rentals, but you could reserve it for the night before and just use it for the morning.

I've never stayed at Cinnamon so I don't know checkout times. If it's off season, they may give you an extended checkout.

I think that I would call Deli Grotto the day before and order an assortment of their amazing sandwiches and some salads to go along with them.
Pick them up in the morning along with some chips and drinks and pack the cooler.

That way, people can eat when they are hungry, you have awesome food, and you have little worry or any beach time wasted.

If you're considering the T'ree Lizards restuarant there at Cinnamon, it isn't on the beach. It's set back into the woods. There is a snack shack type of thingy on the beach but that may not fit your needs. I would look into bringing food with you as others have suggested. Enjoy and congrats!

Cinnamon is the most beautiful beach on St John. I have stayed at the campground many times. I agree with others that the best plan would be to bring lunch/drinks in a cooler. The front desk at Cinnamon may have coolers you can rent for the day if you don't want to buy one, but it would also be cool to buy one and then give to someone else on the beach. You can buy ice at the little grocery store right where the taxi drops you off. Tree Lizard food is good, but service is slow and it's not on the beach. You'd have better food, cheaper and better time by bringing it in. There are grills at each camp site, but none are propane, all are charcoal. It is doubtful that the place will be full in May, so you would probably be able to use one of the grills at a camp site. Again, seems like a lot of fuss to just be able to grill. Showers at Cinnamon are available for visitors to use, but are cold water. There are no chairs for rent at Cinnamon. Enjoy your wedding.

I agree with the suggestion of Deli Grotto if it is the one in the fancy shopping area. Great food.

Deli Grotto does a GREAT job and you won't be disappointed. They are in Mongoose Junction. We even make special trips over from STT to buy their bread!
