Hello, everyone,

this question was probably already answered many times, but still:

If we stay within walking distance from Cruz Bay should we worry about the noise? Some people say it is really bad, some do not mention it at all. Very confusing.

We are thinking about Mahogany Tree or Cruz Views Villas and cannot decide which to choose. Did anybody stay there? What did you think?

Thanks a lot!

I can't answer about Cruz Bay Villas, but we stayed on the same street as Mahogany Tree Villas last visit and it wasn't construction noise we found irritating - it was the constant noise from the power plant - it sits on the other side of the Audubon sanctuary, the lines come in from STT... but, there again...you will be out of your place most of the time - but if you are planning on sitting on your deck in the evening, etc.....

stayed at Cruz Views a few times and have been very pleased with the units and location. it has a nice pool area w/great view/+ sunsets.this is a very quiet complex, in fact we've never been disturbed with surrounding noise at all. easy walk into town/walk home not as easy, what with the "hill" but doable or grab a cab!! i would def. stay there again !!

Thank you Spicy and Rody!

Rody, do you by any chance remember what unit you stayed in? It seems like they are all different.

I don't think that hill is a problem when you are walking, but we want to rent a car - is the driveway there very steep?

we've stayed in #1 and #10 / my favorite is #10 but #1 is very nice too , lots of room. # 1 is very close to street..not much traffic because it's a dead end st. the drive way is not steep/turning(sharp) into drive you're going downhill.glad to see you're renting a car..it's the best way to see & explore the island. is this your first trip to st. john ??

Yes, this is our first time.
We are "outdoors" people (though not enough to go camping :), and I figured St John would be the ideal place.

Julie...great choice to go to st.john/great for anyone who enjoys the "outdoors". you're going to love this island.so many beaches to relax and snorkel( there are places in cruz bay to rent), plenty of hiking trails, ruins to explore and some great restaurants/bars/shops !!! having a car is a good idea so the two of you can really get to appreciate the island...to come and go at your lesiure..to stop where ever you choose. make sure you go out to coral bay..it's the more laid back town but some fun bars and shops to check out ..the scenery on the way is an adventure itself!! by the time you get ready to go home i'm sure you'll be planning your return !! we always do !! have a great trip ! any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.
