I purchased my tickets for our 7/13-7/23 trip! I had been watching it for awhile with the intention of buying if/when a fare sale came about. This morning when I checked, it was $31.50 round trip! Yes, $31.50 - no typo! So I bought it right then and there, of course. I honestly didn't expect the sale to go through, but it did, seats and all. I received an email purchase confirmation shortly afterwards. US Airways has since fixed the site and the fare is now $524.50, but I still have not heard from them. I know this is too good to be true, and I fully expect a call from USAirways. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this before?

Relax...if you bought it direct from their site, you're in baby. Now go buy a lottery ticket with all your good fortune. 🙂

PS
Remeber me if you hit 😀

I thought I caught a good fare on American. Last Sat. I booked from PHL PA to STT for our Jan. trip for $148.00 taxes included. I received the alert from Travelocity but went to AA website to book. So many dates were available I didn't know what to pick. Ended up booking Martin Luther King's Birthday weekend. Leave Fri. Jan 12 - 15. At those prices I don't mind going for a long weekend.

Your price was great and I believe they will honor it. Love it when you get great prices on airfare especially when you get FF miles as well.

$148.00 is excellent!!! Do you think it was an error? Is it still available? I know mine was a "fat finger fare" - it disappeared almost immediately after I booked (I called some friends who tried to book it as well - it came up but wouldn't allow them to complete the purchase). Still no word from USAir and my reservation is still in the system... I hope you're right 🙂

You may have assigned seats already, but that doesn't mean they can't overbook the flight. Please be sure to arrive at the airport as early as you possibly can. Be the first one in line to check-in and get your boarding passes or check-in online 24 hours in advance.
CONGRATULATIONS ON THE GREAT DEAL!

I don't think it was an error. If it was it took them two days to figure it out. The airfare was at that price all day Sat and Sudn. When I checked Monday morning it was back up to four hundred something. One thing I learned is when you see the airfare at a great price, grab it. If youtake too much time to think it's gone.

$31.50 round trip first class tickets...Wow!

Unless I'm mistaken the $31.50 doesn't even pay for the government security taxes and fees.

I don't know what the rules are regarding mistakes on the airline's web sites, but I hope they honor your price.

Do you have a "Plan B" in case you're denied boarding on the day of your flight? I don't want to make you nervous, but I don't want you to be disappointed either.

$31.50 was just the taxes and fees (tax on $0.00, so most likely just the fees). The base fare was $0.00 - obviously a mistake. based on everything I have read about "fat finger fares", airlines are not legally bound to honor erroneous fares, but almost always will (one source said %100 do) on general principle and because of the negative publicity involved in taking a "deal" away from a customer.

My plan is to call and confirm a few days in advance. If for some reason they decide at that time (assuming I don't hear from them in the mean time) that they won't honor it, plan B is for me to insist that they offer me a "reasonable" (RE: cheap) fare for the same flights based on the fact that they had held the reservation since it was made (by then it will be almost 2 months) and had ample time to flag the error and notify me. If they refuse, I will make alternate travel plans with a competitor and they will forever loose my business. Each flight leg is only about %30 full as of today (T - 38 days and counting!!!) so I'm not too worried about the flights selling out. The way I look at it is that they are better off selling me a cheap seat than leaving the seat empty.

Anyone have any other ideas on how best to handle this?
