Can you buy the cruzan rum in plastic bottles in the VI? I have bought it both ways in the liquor stores where I live in the mid-west. I would think buying it in the plastic bottles would be so much easier to transport back home.

lisab, I've been hearing that some liquor distributors in other parts of the world are experimenting with plastic bottles, but so far, the only plastic Cruzan bottles are the minis. Why don't you contact Cruzan (through Absolut's web site) and suggest that they do more plastic bottles?

Hey Lisa,

I got all that rum home in glass bottles just fine. I was a little worried, but it all made it safely. Party at my house! 🙂

Mine made it home fine also. Of course, now I wish I would have bought more. Next Time....

It does taste better from glass, but I'll bet anything they'll start offering plastic bottles here soon. If it happened to Coke (plastic bottles now vs glass of years ago), it will happen to Cruzan, IMO.

I have purchased Capt Morgan spiced rum in plastic, and cannot tell the difference. But, I rarely drink it now that I've discovered all the flavored rums by Cruzan! I currently have coconut, banana, pineapple, mango, vanilla, and orange! Still have been unable to find the black cherry!

a side note- there is another brand of rum that I can't remember the name (never heard of it before) that has a LIME flavor! got to get me some of that! 🙂

Bacardi has a key lime flavor. It's great mixed with pink grapefruit juice. Yummy.

I drink Cruzan in the plastic bottles here when I'm traveling or that's what the store has. I can't taste the difference. I was just a little surprised with all the tourists bringing it back that they only have glass. But the guys at AH Rise on STT know how to pack those bottles so the guys at Delta don't break or steal your bottles. Yay!

Surprisingly, rum doesn't really have too many calories if you use a one-ounce pour (ha) and a no-calorie mixer like diet coke.

Anyhow, my favorite is vanilla rum and diet rootbeer or black cherry rum and diet coke.

I just got back from a trip thru the Panama Canal and found that the ship had Cruzan Vanilla on Board. (too bad that I did not find this out till three days before the end of the cruise) I also mix it with diet coke and do love it. It did increase my bar bill by a few dollars but was so worth it.

I mix the vanilla with diet as well, the one with Splenda - can't tell a difference any more. In fact, reg coke would probably seem too sweet with vanilla rum. Coconut rum and diet coke with a splash of lime juice is awesome also!

one of the best Cruzan drinks is the Cruzan Confusion. coconut rum, mango rum and pineapple juice. I also put a splash of grenadine in it to just make it pretty. 🙂
