On thursday morning we decided to run to the Marina Market to pick up some breakfast items. I have a list of how much some of the food costs, and if anybody is interested, they can PM me.

Last may, with 9 people we stayed at a Villa at Mahogany Run. There were 9 of us. It had 6 bedrooms, 5 1/2 baths, a pool, jacuzzi and a amazing view. There were some things that were not kept up. After getting home, we emailed the owners directly and sent them a list of things that should be addressed. Not that we didn't have a great time, but there were some things that weren't looked after. We met the owners a 9 sharp (very nice people) and went back to see what they had done. I couldn't believe all the work they had done to make this Villa so beautiful. I won't post the name of the old Villa, but it is now called oceancliffe. I would highly recommend anybody renting this Villa. Even now, the pictures don't do it justice. They replaced all furniture, all new tile throughout, new kitchen, new beddings, new decks, outside furniture, new 8 person jacuzzi, new windows, etc. We are trying desperatly to go back. It's a great Villa.

Went snorkeling at Coki on the way back. This beach has alot of vendors and people may be turned off by it, but it's good snorkeling (they feed the fish there) and it's next to Coral World. If you like snorkeling, go there, don't miss it. Husband had a funny exchange with somebody we call Dallas. Being Eagles fan, it was on!!!! We also ate at the "Mailman". Little hut on the beach. We both had a jerk chicken sandwitch, which was very good. Little slow, but hey we're on Island time. They also have $2.00 beers there (very cheap). Back to Sapphire for some snorkeling. I'd like to suggest snorkeling on the left hand side of the beach, instead of the right hand side. We saw so many fish there, sea urchins and sandollars. In fact, we saw the biggest fish ever out there. I have no idea what it was, but it was at least 4 feet long. Wasn't a tarpon, I know what they look like, but very good fishing. You can access the beach very easily, parking is availabe, chairs and snorkeling equipment is available for a small fee, and personally I think one of the best beaches on the islands.

Ran to Duffy's for my first Bushwacher...mmmmm. It's right in Red Hook and a pretty cool place to go. Located right in the parking lot, they're known for their drinks is fancy glasses. If you don't want the glasses, just tell them to put it in a plastic cup.

We felt like we just wanted something light to eat. Ran over across the street to Molly Mallon'es and ordered a Chef Salad. It was huge and the 2 of us couldn't finish it. I would highly recommend Molly's for eating. They have a big menu and their prices are reasonable

Tried to find Survivor on the TV, but couldn't get it down on STT :o(.

After all that snorkeling and running around, we ended up falling asleep about 10 PM on the deck to the nice breezes and the crashing waves. What a way to end the day.

Love STT!!!

Hi Connie. So glad to hear that Sapphire is coming back! That's the very first place we stayed back in '95. Really liked it there! The beach, the snorkeling but the pool was the greatest! The snack bar by the pool, is it open? They had killer hamburgers!
Great report! Thanks for sharing, looking forward to the rest of your trip! Are they renovating any of the buildings? Do you have some pix to share? Would love to see them!

Thanks again,

-Bert

The snack bar by the pool is open and serving lunches (and hamburgers). I do have some pictures, but just picked them up tonight...have a cd of them and i'll be working on that. The only thing is with that pool there, which has a beautiful view is the ducks. They can swim in there whenever they want. But who needs a pool when you have that gorgeous water??

The Village up on the hill is getting a facelift. The ones on the beach look about the same and some owners are currently updated the insides.

Connie,
MORE!!! Sounds wonderful! I wonder if the fish you saw was a Barracuda? Was he shiny and silver? Did he just kinda linger?
I too am happy to hear Sapphire is making a comeback and that they are doing a great job at caring for the beach and property!

PS- Thanks for the Pork Roll, gonna try it out tomarrow morning for Breakfast! Keep ya posted! 🙂

Sherri...no....not a barracuda, I know what they look like. Somebody said to me that it may be a jack? It was pretty big all over, swam pretty slow, didn't looked bothered by us. Fun to see.

Good luck on the pork roll :o)
