Day two began at about 8am in the morning. Woke up totally refreshed after a great nights sleep in our super air conditioned room. NT and I went downstairs and toasted up some bagels and had a couple of cups of coffee. The discussion amongst the group quickly turned to our plans for the day. After discussing the various beaches we could head to, we decided on the obvious one...Trunk Bay. It was the closest, it had a snack bar, restrooms, showers, etc. All these things added up to a lazy day of beach lounging. I was in favor of something a bit more adventurous. But, when the pregnant lady voted in favor of Trunk, democracy be damned, we were heading to Trunk!

Everybody dispersed to get their things together. I transfered everything from my "computer" backpack to my "outdoor" backpack. I threw in an extra pack of smokes, some sunscreen, my ipod, my beer huggie that I can hang around my neck (for serious drinking times only), and some packs of chewing gum (a neccessity for me for some reason). NT grabbed her zero protection tanning oil...and that was about it. She was ready to go!

As we headed out to the cars, I looked into one of the outbouildings and discovered a store of beach chairs! Those were a god send. So, we got everyone and everything (including the chairs and our now full cooler) into the back of the two cars. We hit TB around 1045 and luckily found the last two parking spots in the lot. When I say lucky...we were sitting in our car discussing what other beach we wanted to go to when a couple walked out to their car and drove away right in front of us leaving us a miracle parking space! What were they leaving for at that time??? Well, we didn't complain...we just took their spot.

We found a pretty good shaded spot and parked our gear. Frst off, I headed to the snack bar to see if I could score some ice. After I greeted the snack bar workers with a heartfelt "good morning", I asked if they sold ice. She indicated that they had what looked like 10 oz cups and they were 25 cents each. I quickly realized that this would not do much good in covereing up a case of beer and enough water and sodas for 6! I offered the lady a five spot and she wound up just giving me an entire bag. I think the "good mornings" worked!

Not much to report at the beach the rest of the day. I drank a whole lot of my freshly chilled beer while I relaxed in the shade. The ladies in the group took their chairs down to the shoreline and sunned themselves in front of all the people walking up and down the beach. The other two couples rented some snorkeling stuff and set out to read the plaques. NT and I had plans to go but couldn't seem to put down our beers long enough! It was our first day...we had plenty of time to snorkel!

At about 3pm, the other two couples decided that they had had enough and took one of the cars home NT and I decided that we could use some more sun (her) and some more beer (me). So, we hung out for another hour until it was obvious that we need to go. Believe it or not, she was drunk and I was sunburnt even though I was the one drinking and she was the one in the sun...

Trip home was short and easy. We went home and everyone was talking about dinner. We decided that we would just head into town around 6pm and find something...nothing too fancy. In the meantime, one of the couples "fell asleep". So, when 6pm came around, we left them to their "sleeping" and headed off without them. We found out later that they were totally good with our decision!

Not sure of the place we had dinner. It was the first litte bar / restaurant to the right after you get off of the ferry. I'm sure you sould recognize it. Between the four of us, the dinner consisted of three grill cheezes and fries and a painkiller. Yes, I had painkillers for dinner! I mean, there is fruit juice in them!

After dinner we stopped by that little grocery store a little bit behind Woody's. I think it was the Dolphin...maybe. We got some more groceries and I hit up the liquor and beer section. I grabbed a couple of bottles of Cruzan Banana and some Jack Daniels. NT grabbed some wine and some more Coors LT. We were set for a few more days.

We made it home around 8:30pm and found that our other couple had arrived and were talking to our other couple...who had obviously stopped "sleeping". The rest of the night consisted of a few pina colodas made with the banana rum and getting to know our new friends. I think I was in bed by 11pm.

Tomorrow's plan...let's go boating!

Were the "grill cheezes" quesadillas? If so, sounds like the restaurant High Tide....Was that where you were, maybe?
FUN trip report. I can't wait to hear about "Let's Go Boating."
Rock on.

Thanks for taking the time to make a trip report. Love hearing day by day reports this way.

How'd you make out with the sunburn? I always use 15, but slowly upgrading to 30 (as the doctor suggests).

The grill cheese sammiches were real grill cheese sammiches...not quesadillas. And, I'm pretty sure it was not the High Tide restaurant. You can see the place when you are getting off the ferry to the right.

The sunburn was really bad. But, it was limited to the area right around my armpit where I missed with the application of the 30 spf. So, it was painful. But, it wasn't a total sunburn catastrophe!

reiddar,
Buy some aloe gel, keep it in your cooler, and some in the fridge at home, not frozen but, as cold as you can keep it.
As soon as you're done rinsing off, put the cold stuff on all over, everyday while you are there.
It takes the heat away and helps keep burns from progressing to a painful stage, and is good for your skin.
Works for me.

Reiddar,
The reason I am being so particular about the grilled cheese sammiches is because I live here and I LOVE grilled cheese sammiches. I am right near the ferry dock, so if a restaurant near me is serving these up, I really want to figure out where it is. I eat a lot of quesadillas when I really want a grilled cheese. I'm getting to the bottom of this tomorrow. Maybe I'll stand on the ferry dock and yell "Hey, who has grilled cheese sandwiches?"

Are you going to write Part 3 soon?
