Hi guys,
Very excited about my upcoming trip to St John. This will be our second time, we were there last year around this same time. Thinking this year of taking a day trip to perhaps Virgin Gorda and Jost (mainly for a soggy dollar visit) and I'm just weighing the different options....the two I know about are New Horizons II and Limnos Charters and I seem to have read good things about both on this board. Any suggestions and or other options I should consider? Can anyone shed light on differences btwn the 2? We don't care so much about "all you can drink" as honestly I'm a lightweight. Lunch would be ok but honestly I'd rather stop at the soggy dollar and eat there...I do have a tendancy to get seasick so obviously will try and go on a calm day, but I'm thinking the smoothest, largest boat will be better for me...i think costs are similar, but again, any advice, suggestions from fellow travelers/islanders would be really helpful. Thanks so much.

We are taking a trip with Stormy Petrel/Pirate Penny over Easter week. They go to the Baths, Cooper Island and another snorkel stop either The Indians, Caves or Peter Island. (No Soggy Dollar I believe that is only with New Horizons II or their sister boat Breakaway, which I believe is the bigger of their two boats.) Watch for my trip report after Easter. Also look for Bill's resent trip report I believe he did New Horizons II and loved it.

I concur with Kraushaus, we have used STormy Petrel/Pirate Penny many times when we have quests. I have never been disappointed in the trip.

As far as Jost Vandyke, take the interisland ferry, it runs there from St. John on the weekend and is a great trip, take the first over in the morning and bring the last one back, that will have given you plenty of time to partake of the many great drinks served on the island.

It is not the fastest way to get there but doesn't cost that much and is usually on time, taking in to fact that you will be on island time......

Enjoy

When my husband & I were in St. John, we went on a day trip with "Breakaway". The boat leaves from St. Thomas & picks up St. John people in Cruz Bay before they head out to the BVIs. The boat was big & there were about 20 people on the boat total, which was a nice amount. The boat stops at Virgin Gorda, the baths, Jost & Marina Cay. We had a fabulous time & wouldn't hesitate to take a trip with them again.
