My wife and I are leaving this Th. for St. Thomas staying at the Marriot Frenchman Reef for 5 nights. I was looking for a day sail to the BVI's. I've seen the day sails around St. Thomas and around St. John's but I would like to take one over to the BVI's. Does anyone know of one?

By the way this is my first post to this board but I have been reading posts for awhile since I booked the trip and it is very useful.

Did you mean day "Sails" or day trips? AS I understand it, most day trips to the BVIs from STT are by power boat due to distance, current, prevailing winds, etc. It's a long way to go in a sailboat. I won't say you can't find one, but you won't be able to see as much of the islands if you go by sail. Kepp in mind that you have to be back at US customs before they close at 5:00. We wanted the same thing but settled for a power boat trip to BVIs and sailing around STJ. Our BVI trip was with New Horizons II - I recommend it highly. Have a great trip!

Brian: A day sail to the USVI is readily available (by the way, it's not "St. John's" but "St. John! ")

Just one recommendation for a BVI visit to The Baths, etc, check out www.captainnautica.com.

The owners are very dear friends of mine - no, I don't get any sort of commission for recommending them (!) but have taken several visiting friends and family members on their trips (paying customers!) and it's a great trip.

Whatever you decide to do, hope you and your wife really enjoy your holiday. If you get a chance upon your return do post a trip report, however brief. Cheers!

I have to second STT Resident captain Nautica does a great job. Although sheepishly I have to admit I had no idea they had sail boats that went to the BVI, and I thought I knew everything. 😉

Just to add another option Daydreamer and Cocnuts http://daydreamervi.com

There are also a few motorboat options as well if you just want to get over there quickly, but since you asked about sails I will let the previous posts about motorboat options stand.

Also, you could charter a boat on your own like Jester, Jolly Mon, Fantasy, or any of the other plethora of private sailboats or Nightwinds if you have a party larger than 6 but less than 18 and still want privacy.

The captain nautica and Daydreamer are larger party boats kind of thing.

I agree that Day Dreamer is a great way to go to Yost and visit Foxy's and the Soggy Dollar Bar., White Sand Beach to me is my favorite beach in the area. Another great way to go is to charter a boat either sail or motor and have a few people pich in. I will be doing that the end of May for 10 days, I cannot wait..

We did a day trip on the "Stormy Petrel / pirates Penny" The Captain guides you into the Baths and takes you into different caves and places than alot of other charters do
Be careful as some charters will just have you go through the baths by yurselfs which you miss alot of different caves doing it that way
