David Haugen777,

I did the New Horizons all day sail and the Captain Nautica BVI trip. The crew on both boats were wonderful.

The one downfall to Captain Nautica is that when you get to the Baths of Virgin Gorda, they make you swim to shore. IMHO, it would be better to dock at the marina and walk on foot to the baths (some charters do this). My husband had some problems in the rough waters and never made it to shore. He spent the afternoon on the boat while I was at the baths. It was kind of a disappointment. I think I would have enjoyed the baths much more with him. Unfortunately, we were there the busiest week of the year and didn't book anything in advance. Captain Nautica was the only available charter to the BVI. They also don't advertise the swimming to shore thing on the website. Lunch is not provided. There is an open bar all day.

New Horizons Day Sail took us to two spots around STJ to snorkel. It was very nice and they provided a small breakfast and good-sized lunch on the boat and they also had an open bar all day.

I hope this helps. You didn't specify where you wanted to go.

roka,

Sorry it took sooooooo long for me to reply....work ugggh. Thanks for the information. Our main goal is to see the baths at Virgin Gorda. I don't think the swim would bother us, but I could not remember which company required it! I also heard that new horizions offered a power boat tour of the BVI. I believe its called NH II. I can't really figure out what the difference is except it seems that they snorkle in different places. I think I'll book soon. We are leaving the cold in mid April after our wedding and staying at the Mariott. Thanks for the advice. This is all new for us. Dave

Dave: New Horizons does run power and a sailboat trips, you are correct! Don't overlook Pirate's Penny and Stormy Petrel! They circumnavigate Tortola, stop in Spanish Town (Virgin Gorda) to clear Customs, swim in at the Baths with a guided tour of the rocks, lunch at Cooper Island, another snorkel at the Indians on the way home. The difference between the two charters is size/type of boat, amenities and where they stop. If everyone wanted the same thing...

We loved the Hew Horizons II trip. If you are there for a week do not forget to book ahead for the hike from the National Park on St. John. It was a three hour guided hike that was beautiful. During the busy seas on advance reservations are needed.
