Hi all,

This is a great site and is making me anticipate our family vacation even more. My husband will be deploying overseas for 6 months only a few weeks after our return from this trip, so I'm trying to make it the best possible, while not cramming "it all in". I'd like to give us all an opportunity to just hang out and see the best that we can with the time that we have.

Our boat will be in STT and I'm planning right now on taking the ferry to St. John. My husband may like to scuba (he's certified) and my 9 year old boy and I will probably look to snorkel. Any suggestions on good scuba trips would be appreciated. I'm not looking to stay with the cruise excursions at all.

Also, any thoughts or advice on renting a scooter? I'd like to do that if it's possible and recommended.

Thanks to all in advance!!
-Melissa

scooters not practical due to terrain. suggest renting Dingy on STJ then all can snokel, scuba, etc. Not sure if you will have lots of time to get it all in. you can check ferry schedule on home page.

Hello Melissa,

St. John + dive/snorkel - try http://www.6paqscuba.com; they can arrange perhaps a boat trip to a spot with good snorkeling and diving and maybe a beach stop. The renting of a dinghy and beach hopping + snorkeling is a nice suggestion; you can rent a dinghy right in Cruz Bay close to the ferry dock. Touring St. John + scuba and snorkeling will be pushing it... but it really depends on when you arrive and what time you have to be back to the ship.

Melissa,

You might want to check out St. John Dive Adventures. They are a small, personalized operation out of Coral Bay and will take you to less visited sites that the Cruz Bay dive operations don't go to. Stjohndiveadventures.com

Feel free to email me if you have any questions.
