Can anyone recommend a good deep sea fishing excursion company?

Have some guests coming in, and they are excited about fishing.

Thanks so much!

Call the DoubleHeader, out of Sapphire Marina. http://69.56.197.242/book.html

You will speak to either Captain Jonathan,or his wife, Wendy. They run, IMHO, the best deep sea charter on the rock. I have been out with him about 40 times in the last 7 years. I've been with others, but I have lots of fun with them, always catch tons of fish (Best half-day trip was 37 yelowfin - worst was 13), and you get to take the first 20 lbs home with you (he filets it up for you and then sells the rest to the restaurants. That's how he keeps his costs down). Well, 'home' in the sense that you can cook it in your kitchen (if you have one) or take it to a restaurant and have them cook it for you. Can't fly it back to the States.

Marty- what is the cost for a half day trip? How many people does he take out at once?

Thanks so much!

Hello Angela,

Last time I compared prices here is what I came up with; this should give you an idea of costs.

Offshore trips for larger game fish are usually limited to a max. of 6 people. Prices are around $500-$600 for 1/2 day, $850 for 3/4 day and $1000 for a full day.

Marlin fishing charters are generally full day trips starting at 7:30am and lasting until dusk, they run about $1200.

Inshore fishing is often limited to 2 to 4 passengers depending on the size of the boat. Prices for inshore fishing are around $350 for 3/4 day and $275 for 1/2 day. Split day packages are $500 for 4 hours in the morning (5am-9am) and four hours in the evening (6pm-10pm).

Half-day on the DoubleHeader's 32 footer is $450, will take four. And his larger boat is $575 for half-day and can take 6.

Yes, I would heatily reccommend the prize winning team of Capt Jim and Capt Mike on The Black Pearl - you can check out their site at:
