There are wedding planners on STJ who could give you assistance. Google "wedding planner st john usvi" and see what you get.

You will need to do a ton of research or get a planner. Many villas do not allow weddings, so you need to be sure that you are booking one that will allow you to do so.

If you don't want a planner, you will need to provide your guests with lodging info, car rental info, etc. Then you will need to find an officiant that will help navigate the licensing (you have to get your license in St. Thomas) a caterer, flowers, music, etc.
That is not to say that you can not do it, many people have, but it is a lot of work.

I am a stateside wedding planner that also handles destination weddings for my clients, so I am all too familiar with the ins and outs. (this is not a plug, I only plan weddings for local clients)

I really recommend you contact Stacy at http://www.usviwedding.com/ she has been in teh STJ wedding business for many years.

if you are set on doing this yourself, please feel free to send me a private message and I will give you a few suggestions on where to start.

Just another vote to use a wedding planner as trying to arrange everything yourself from off island is a major challenge to say the least. A planner will work within your budget to ensure you and your guests a wonderful experience and their assistance and knowledge is worth every penny. Cheers!

I am doing the exact same thing! however I cant decide between october or november due to hurricane season & if that's really an issue during those months. I was hoping to avoid having a wedding planner to cut costs & i have been to the area & have friends there so I feel I can plan my own but am not too confident about it. Let's share our research if you want boodles!

My husband and I got married on STJ 4 years ago and I planned everything from my home in VT. I got a minister, photographer, videographer, booked a villa, rented a car etc. It was easy to do. I'd be happy to share info if anybody wants it! Jill

Hi boodles - we got married on St. John 5 years ago and we rented the villa Vistaero to house guests and for the reception. It's a great property and worked out very well. A link to the villa info is below. Best of Luck!
