can you dine there if you aren't a hotel guest? if so, any recommendations? we will likely be looking for at least one "fancy" dinner on our honeymoon. Thanks.

Food and dining are common threads on this message board. You will probably have fun going through the previous threads where you'll see a ton of entries abuot the more expensive/fancy/romantic, etc places to eat. I have no idea about Caneel as there are several other places not associated with the hotels that get rave reviews. We ended up, about a month ago now, at a small somewhat casual place with exquisite food in Coral Bay called Sweet Plantains. I felt that an outdoor candlelit fabulous and fancy meal across from the Bay was fancy enough for me and my husband enjoyed not having to get dressed up. We even had the chef join us at the end for a chat, just PERFECT!

sounds great. thanks.

was really asking because I think a number of places could be closed while we are there (Oct 3-12) and was thinking that the hotel places are always opened.

I will put that place on my list to check out.

gotcha, could be the case but you can always search then contact some places to see what their fall schedule will be like. We did see many places that hadn't closed at all. Many of the "better" "$$$$" restaurants have websites to check out seasonal hours.
