This is on STX, right? If on either STX or STT, the usual island greetings will traditionally prevail for a ship's first visit. Mocko jumbies (traditional stilt walkers), steel pan bands, welcoming island hosts offering samples of Cruzan rum, local vendors ... Didn't you ask this question on a previous post or was that somebody else with the same question? Board moderator Islander responded once and then responded again. Enjoy your day here! Cheers!

waterguy, the first or second ship calling on St. Croix in 2009 is a Disney ship on January 6th. With the return of ships to St. Croix the tourism dept and other agencies are planning various activities at the Frederiksted pier when ships are in port.

The first ship of the season for St. Croix was a few weeks ago and for it the line up was Rising Stars Steel Pan band, St. Croix Educational Complex Quelbe Band, St. Croix Heritage Dancers and Guardian of Culture Mocko Jumbies. Entertainment in the morning and afternoon. And various vendors with food, drink and souvenirs.

Muggs329, the line up for the day Disney is in port in January should be similar with music, dancing, vendors. With the holidays gov't offices involved in the planning are closed, will see if we can get some specifics next week.

muggs329 - was never able to get a hold of someone that could give the exact line up of entertainment. Someone on the relocation board posted today that they heard the Disney horn as the ship approached Frederiksted and I thought hey maybe muggs329 was listening to it while watching Fort Frederik and the town come into view. Hope you had a great time on St. Croix today!
