I was reading in another post that you should be at STT two hours before your flight back home to clear customs, etc. Yet I thought I had read previously on this board that you could be at the airport only 1 hour before your flight, especially if you only have carry-on luggage and are flying back to the U.S.

I'd like to clarify this before my trip! Is it one hour or two?

Our flight (United 1063) was leaving at 1:28pm Saturday, May 27. We got there at 11am-ish. Got baggage checked, went to customs and filled out the form, the line moved along ok, when it was our turn, we had a very nice guy who never asked to see one thing except our birth certificates (I didn't realize we'd need them, so I had them packed "somewhere" and had to hunt thru our luggage to find them) and after all that, we moved right over thru the security and then to the waiting.....all this took only one hour, but I wouldn't do anything different cuz it'd be too stressful to play it any closer.
We were told that you couldn't bring any rum that was 150 proof as they say it's too "volatile" but NO ONE even checked our booze at all. They just asked us what we had to declare and then took our word for it. SWEET. Of course, I would have been happy to show him our 4 bottles.

I don't know what it is about that place exactly, but I'm already looking forward to going back. Someone must have put a spell on all who go!!!!

Sadly we left on Friday afternoon at 2:25. Got to airport 2 hours before departure. By the time I returned rental car, customs, screening (only one open, longest line) we had about 30 minutes before they started boarding.
