Ok, I have been thinking about dividing my trip between St. Thomas & Tortola. We would fly in to St. Thomas (already have our tickets), rent the car at the airport & spend 3 nights at our favorite condo off Sapphire Beach. Return the rental car to the airport and take a taxi to the ferry dock. Anyone know where the ferry dock in in Charlotte? Is it far from the airport & about how much would that cost. I only went to Paradise Point in Havensight on our last 2 trips. We then take the ferry to Tortola, spend our remaining 4 nights there, return to Charlotte and take a cab back to the airport. Would this be the best way to divide our 7 night trip between 2 islands?

You should be able to rent a car at Sapphire or at least at the Red Hook ferry dock. Take a taxi from the airport (PM me for some suggestions for private cabs). Then you can take the ferry from Red Hook. Saves you some time and frustration. Ferry back to Charlotte Amalie and take a cab from there -it's 20 -30 minutes to the airport.

Your original plan makes sense as well - the Tortola ferry dock is only a few minutes from the airport -$5 or so by taxi - you can easily drop your luggage and any other people at the Tortola Ferry Dock on the way to the airport - only one person then drives to the airport to drop the car. Plus if you are picking a car up when you land so all your luggage can accompany you to sapphire - + shop for condo provisions on the way there - and why pay xtra for cabs to Sapphire on Day One especially a private taxi?
