Quick question for those of you who have been to Tortola -- any suggestions on which of the following should I rent?

Chevy Tracker
Jeep Wranger
Chevy Blazer
Jeep Liberty

Thanks for any help!

I'd say go with the Wrangler or the Liberty. We stayed on Tortola last May. The roads are not in the best condition and they are narrow and winding and steep at times. I prefer a smaller vehicle for parking purposes too. I'd say the Chevys would be larger than I'd like to drive in those conditions. Just a person preference.

We rented four-door, 4-wheel drive Grand Vitaras from Denzil Clyne and were very happy with the condition of the vehicles and the service as well. Denzil owns Johnny Hill Villas, where we stayed, and if you go to this website you can get more info. www.johnnyhillvillas.com

Hope you love Tortolla as much as we did!

4WD and decent tires are the first consideration. The roads are more variable than in the USVIs. Some of the steepest, such as the road to Brewers Bay from Cane Garden Bay, can be very slippery when wet. When I say steep, I mean hanging from the seat belt steep. I like to be able to lock the vehicle securely, so I'd go with with the Jeep Liberty.
