WE are camping in Cinnamon Bay, and want to have some interesting, island food in various restaurants. Any suggestions?

In Cruz Bay - Sogo's in has good West Indian. Hercules has great pates. Made from Scratch Bakery has good pates as well (near Tamarind Court). Sosa's has good Dominican hispanic food.

Cheers, RickG

We always like to get some local food when on STJ. In Cruz Bay our favorites for dinner are Sogo's (West Indian) and Sosa's (Latin Caribbean). For a lunch, we stop by Hercules for pate or eat at one of the cart/truck/stands around the pavilion and the post office (Shela's or Patrick's). I did read that someone in Fred's family was going to be serving food either at Fred's or possibly next door. Mooie's is a good place to stop for a drink and a local experience.

There are more choices in Coral Bay. Sweet Plantains and Miss Lucy's have sort of upscale West Indian menus. There are a few small truck/trailer operations at the triangle. The Sputnik bar sometimes is serving food. The Sputnik is also a good place to get a drink and a very local experience.

Nobody ever seems to rave about the restaurant at Cinnamon, but the food at Maho isn't bad. It's not local island food, but it would be convenient.

At vies snack shack past coral bay on the east end is worth the trip. Go early in the week because she does all her baking on Mondays. Have lunch there. Garlic Chicken, Beans and Rice with the meat sauce over top (this is so so yummy) then top it off with my favorite coconut tort or pineapple tort. Personally I love the coconut. She also has really good conch fritter and Johny cakes there too!! This is a wonderful authentic little place that I would not miss!!
