Hello all,
I am planning a 25th anniversary trip with my kids and grandkids. Estate Belvedere, St. Croix looks perfect. Has anyone stayed there? Any info about nearby markets, beaches, restaurants, etc. would be very helpful. (Have already been to St. Thomas and St. John. Hubby likes the golf on St. Croix)
Thanks,
Rellen

There is an Estate Belvedere, but it is a geographic area. I've never heard of a house/villa. But that doesn't mean much, There are several dozen rental villas around STX. Do you know where it is located?

Ok, I looked at the website. This villa must be between Salt River and Cane Bay. A nice area. The villa living area look huge. It looks perfect for a large group/family vacation/reunion etc. I would bet it doesn't have A/C - too open and spread out. Not very cozy for one or two couples.

It is an interesting-looking property. I'd like to tour it.

Not much help here, sorry.

Rellen,
I too lookes at the website. Can you adopt me??? WOW what a great looking place to take the family. I think I went about 10 miles down the road for dinner on my 25th LOL. Did get to STX for the 30th and stayed at Carambola...loved our stay there. If you didn't want a villa I would suggest Carambola. There was a large extended family there for a wedding while we were there and they seemed to have a blast.

Beautiful estate in the Cane Bay area! Not near enough to walk to the beach if that matters to you and the kids. But if you rent a car, and I highly recommend it, you can easily drive to several beaches on the West end of the island or even out east end way.

Plan to take a Buck Island trip-- several tours available. I've heard good things about Big Beard's tours and also the Teroro. You can book on line or wait until you get there and call. Tan Tan tours are fun, especially for the kids since Wave and his group take you out in jeeps to places you wouldn't normally get to see. My husband and I have passed these jeeps on a couple of trips and the people have always been smiling or laughing like they're having a blast. Joanne, who posts on this board, has taken one and highly recommended it-- maybe she'll add her two cents here. Horseback riding at Paul and Jill's is also highly recommended by several people. Jill was raised on the island and takes you through the rain forest and down to the beach. They take large groups. The (non-alcoholic) beer drinking pigs in the rain forest at the Domino Club are fun to see. (I'm thinking of things the kids will like, too, because we all know how a vacation can be ruined if the kids get bored! If they're like I was they'll be happy anywhere around water, but some kids need a little extra)

Make sure you get out and try several of the restaurants on the island. And shopping in Christiansted for goodies.

Pick up a free magazine at the airport called St Croix This Week. (you can view it at stcroixthisweek.com to get an idea of things to do and also get phone numbers of restaurants, Buck Island tours, etc.) This is very helpful in planning your trip.

Have a great time!

PS--- Sandcrab, I think you were posting waaaay past your bedtime, and over your limit of Rum and Cokes! 🙂

Just me again! I should have previewed my message before I posted it. Estate Belvedere is of course close to Cane Bay beach--I should have said that before telling you to drive to other beaches on the island. If you've already been to St. Thomas and St. John, Cane Bay beach might not look very impressive. The sand was just okay to us--- it was clean, but not the sugar white sand of some beaches. We enjoyed snorkeling there and it's also where people go to dive The Wall. A couple of beach bar type restaurants within walking distance. You can also drive to the next closest beach at Davis Bay at the Carambola--- a truly beautiful beach.

Our family owned and lived at Estate Belvedere for more than 20 years and enjoyed every moment. It's wonderful to see how the new owners have enhanced the property. Bravo!
