STJ is smaller and way more laid back than STT. Your choices are hotels, villas, and camping basically. Go back up to the top to STJ to accomodations and check the numerous threads about opinions on the many choices of acccomodations. Cruz Bay is fairly small but crowded, where most of the hotels are and most of the high end restaurants, Centerline Road will take you across the whole island (very windy and slow) to Coral Bay which has lots of villas, some low key but fun restaurants, and resort camping (Concordia Ecotents). Coral Bay is way, way laid back and due to the driving, you either tend to hang out at that end of island or stay closer to Cruz Bay. Snorkling is great everywhere. Cruise this message board and you'll soon get a feel for the paradise that is STJ.

When I looked over the accommodations it seemed all the villas were weekly rentals. If there are any multi-day or daaily, can someone suggest them?

Thanks

while i've never rented through them, caribbean villas & resorts handles daily rentals at gallows point and cruz views villas (but neither is truly separate villa with private pool etc) and on its "last minute travel bargains" page offers some of its villas for 5 and 6 days when available. go to http://www.caribbeanvilla.com. on a recent inquiry when we interested in a specific villa, they offered a 4 day rental which was only open period during month.

cloud nine villas shows short terms when available on its web site and usually discounted rates. i have used them several times, usually weekly but once on 4 dayer. Marcy appel with c9 is mighty helpful. try them at http://www.cloud9villas.com .

also destination st john has a few villas that will rent last minute for "fill ins". try http://destinationstjohn.com. i had a good experience with lori peity there.

i'd be surprised if most rental villas were not available for less than week for fill ins.
just takes time to find and match your schedule, available plane seats and villa openings.

point, can get some good last minute deals even for less than a week, but problem maybe getting a flt with reasonable fares at last minute. hard to justify buying a plane ticket and hoping to find last minute short term villa rental.

happy hunting.

I'm interested in any info you can give me on STT Kitt and Grand Cayman. We've been to STT twice and loved it. We would be taking our two kids (11 &13) and also would stay at a Marriott for the points...Thanks!

Most villas not available for less than a week - especially the finer villas. The cost of preparing a villa for a new renter and then cleaning behind them makes renting for less than a week a not so attractive option for agents/owners. Most of them just aren't that desperate for renters. Most agents have a hard rule that they will not rent for less than a week - no exceptions. I have exlplored this issue at length in the past.

Private Homes for Private Vacations I believe still does some 5-day rentals, at least in the off season.

We've stopped at St Kitts twice on cruises (just one day each time) and really liked what we saw. Would love to hear more about your impression of the island.

HI all,

I have been to St. Kitts twice and her sister island Nevis once. My hubby and I got married on the beach on Nevis in 2002:)

The two islands were volcanic islands with each having a high peak that make for a dramatic look...

When I first started going to St. Kitts, there were very few resorts. Most were smaller places. Marriot has built a +900 room hotel(I think this is close to the room amount) that doubled the number of hotel rooms that are availabe on St Kitts...this has really changed the dynamics of this island in my opinion.

Nevis is the smaller of the 2. It has a Four Seasons Resort that friends of mine have stayed at and loved, but I can't afford...lol.

As for the beaches they really do not compare to STJ.....darker sand and the snorkling is good but there are only a few areas that are easly accesible.
