Which of those months is the least crowded in St. John? I know March is Spring Break, but I would imagine college kids would prefer another island with more night life? I went in May last year and had wonderful weather, and the island was very quiet and uncrowded. During the high season are there really many more people or is it just the prices double, because it's the prime time to go? I loved the nearly empty beaches. Thanks!

And what's the deal with the winter winds I keep hearing about? Is it better to go in April or May for calm water?

those are high season months, so may is still a good time to come if you want more temperate weather and fewer folks around. plus you already know, that is the low season time too.

the "christmas winds" blow beginning in november and can last awhile, hence their name. it's been rather cool and breezy of late and is just now starting to get warm. unusual for this time of year. i was freezing! it was 70 degrees last night!!!:$)
