We will be down in Feb for 4 weeks, our longest trip ever! We are staying at Sapphire beach, one of our favorite beaches, I have been watching the web cam for Sapphire and noticed a large crowd on the beach today. Is it a heavy cruise ship day?

Also, can frozen food stuff be shipped ahead of time ? I'm afraid I might get tired of eating out ( I must be delirious ) , not to worry about the local markets, we spend more than our share when we are down there, but I do like to know where my meat comes from. And what about a good cooler for larger amounts? In the past we have used a carry on cooler that has wheels, with snacks and food for the flight, then we have it for trips over to St John, It works great for towels etc, for the beach, and we can put our wet suits & towels in for the trip back. I never pay a lot for one so I don't have to worry about the sand...

and, how do you put a trip ticker on here?...That's all, for now, really really can't wait to get back!!

No you can't ship frozen meat ahead of time. Priority Mail (the cheapest way to mail packages to the USVI) will take on average 5 to 10 days to arrive.

Yes, there were several ships in yesterday.

Many people do bring frozen foods with them in soft sided coolers. No additional ice needed as if you freeze and pack tightly it will still be well frozen by the time you get here. Do bear in mind though that if you check the cooler in you'll pay a baggage fee so weigh the additional cost. No worries about meat here - it's all from the US and USDA inspected and stamped. Comes from the same suppliers who supply your local outlets.

Have fun planning!

We bring a softsided cooler full of meat, and other cold products. We freeze everything ahead of time, and it is still frozen when we arrive at our villa ( approx. 8-9 hours later)- remember that it's COLD in the baggage hold of the plane. ( we check this bag as a piece of luggage)

We also take advantage of the USPS pre-paid boxes. You can load them up as much as possible- the weight limit is 75lbs I believe. And, it's a flat rate ( We use the largest size which costs $14)- we ship down 2 boxes- one with sunscreen/shampoo/detergent, etc.. and one with food products ( non-perishable).

Thanks to all of you!! I know StJ has Connections, where you can send packages. Is there anything on STT like that?
STT resident, hope to finally get to your place for dinner...Fri fish, Sat prime rib? 1 month 1 week 4 days

Time share sales folks...my Sister and her husband are joining us for a week, their 1st visit...my Brother in law is so funny, and a sucker for any "deal", he will probably approach someone before they can grab him ...I can't wait to take him downtown!! We can just park him with a sales person and shop in peace!!
