Hi my name is Sebastian and I will be in st-Thomas for the first time from DEC. 22 to January 5Th. If you could take some time to answer the following questions it will be appreciated.

1- Any cheap place to rent a car in St-Thomas? I would like to book on line prior to my departure.
2-How much are the ferry to go to Saint-John (with the car) ? To Tortola? Could I bring the car on board?
3-Could those 2 island be visited in one day$
4-What are the "must see attractions" In Saint-Thomas? Saint-John? Tortola?
5-I have been told that ferry are too long to go to Ste Croix, is this correct?
5- Could I book a flight easily from Saint-Thomas to Ste-Croix? What are the fees?

Sorry for my english...

Thank you

1. There are several rental car businesses on STT. Budget, Avis, Hertz. Most run about $250/week.

2. If you go to the top of this forum page you will see a link to "ferry schedules." You cannot take a rental car to the BVI from the USVI.

3. If you plan to visit STX from STT, best you look into the seaplane fares. The ferry remains sketchy. Check the American Airlines flights too. Cheers!

Hello,

Your visit is during a peak travel period; not likely you will find any great deals for a car rental since its a busy time. For that same reason you need to get something reserved as soon as possible. Check out a few of the car rental agencies and compare prices.

There is a passenger ferry and a car ferry from St. Thomas to St. John. Many of the St. Thomas car rental companies allow their vehicles to be taken over to St. John, but ask to make sure when making the reservations. There is a passenger ferry between St. Thomas and Tortola.

You can take a day trip to St. John and another day trip to Tortola from St. Thomas.

Some highlights on St. Thomas are the various beaches, historical sites in Charlotte Amalie, you can visit some of the attractions like Paradise Point and Coral World. Lots of great activities... snorkeling, diving, boating. The VI National Park is on St. John so lots of hiking trails, beaches and ruins within the park.

The ferry to St. Croix is long if you are going for one day and trying to maximize your time.

A flight between St. Thomas and St. Croix might run you around $150-$170 round trip for regular priced ticket.

I just got back from Stt. I rented my car from thrifty, they had the cheapest rates. You can take the car on a barge from STT. to STJ, but I found that it was better to just take the ferry from Red Hook on Stt and rent another car on STJ. It costs about $50 to take the car on barge to STJ, but you have to be back for the return trip by like 5pm. We rented a car on STJ for $70 and were able to stay on STJ until 11pm and just took the ferry back to STT and picked up our car from the parking lot at the pier. The extra time on STJ was worth the 20 bucks.
