Ferry from Red Hook - new luggage charge?

I heard somewhere that there is a charge for luggageon the ferry. In the past, I remember just handing luggage to crew to put on ferry. No tags or name or anything.Upon arrival to St. John we just waited and watched and collected our luggage. Has this changed?

yes, $2 per bag. Not carry ons though.

I think the new "temporary" fee for bags is now $3.00 per bag (this instead of the old "temporary" $2.00 fee)
